all you aftermarket mfrs - Twisted Throttle, Alt Rider, etc

I'm looking for 2 things now:
1) a short sissy bar for the wife - this provides the passenger physical comfort, a sense of security and also makes a good tie down feature

2) I am still struggling with buffeting - apparently I am too tall to get down into the bubble and need a bit less windshield to get above the turbulence. It is easier for me to set the windshield low, seat high and get up into the airflow. So's after looking at the 1200 World Crosser, I'd like a nice short blue windscreen that covers the instrument cluster, provides a bit of bug deflectage, but cuts about 4" off the stock windscreen height. This could be metallic blue, dark translucent blue or maybe carbon fiber would look OK.

Let me know if anything is in the pipeline!!!!!

GP, you should take a look at the ones on calsci.com. They put a small slot in the lower center of the shield reduce/eliminate buffeting. I have the large CalSci and have no buffeting at all. Just quiet, smooth airflow. They offer a shorty that seems exactly what you're looking for.

thanks PTFJJJ -

that might be the ticket! My dealer was nice to allow me to try the tall Yam windshield and it did help, but wasn't quite enough. I've seen the technique used before that calsci is doing, so I am sure there is merit. I'll have to investigate & see if I can get a demo some how.

I've also seen extensions from Tourtech, etc that can buy you additional height, but I'm still in research mode.

the other brutal truth - as much as adventure riders love those dual sport helmets (like Arai XD3 or Shoei Hornet), those duck bills are not aerodynamic - my Arai Corsair V shrugs off the high frequency ripples that hit my forehead much better

With the Arai XD3, simple to remove the peak for normal roads... (not while riding of course ;D)

Since I haven't picked up my motorcycle yet , I can only speak f my experience with my other motorcycles. I am quite tall in the body and I have learned that one shouldn't worry about the buffeting until you get the physical ergonomics set for you. For taller riders every thing you do moves the airflow around you into a new pattern

My advice based on setting up quite a few long distance motorcycles would be to make yourself comfortable ergonomically on the motorcycle, (custom seat, lowered foot pegs, mirror wideners, new hand guards) before you start fooling with the windscreen. I would also recommend that you look at the windshield adjuster that WASP's friend has made and sells

Until you are comfortabel physically you will just be wasting money and time trying out windshields until you are comfortable, because you ride two up your partner needs to be on the MC when you are moving things around, depending on her physical shape and how she is placed in relation to you the airflow can be adjusted positively (smoother) or not.

I have the Cal Sci windshield on my GT and it has been perfect with great customer service. The quietest MC I own is the KTM 990 and I get zero buffeting or noise while wearing an Arai XD3, sitting on a custom seat and using the taller Winfield for KTM.

Good luck and be patient getting s MC perfectly set-up takes patience.
