Only managed a rather pitiful 100 miles today. Saturday traffic in the UK is grim to say the least.
Overall impression is that i have made the right choice. I had forgotten just how "useable" this class of bike is. It feels nimble for a large machine, comfort is excellent and the large tank and economical engine makes perfect sense in this climate. It's also a real fun bike to ride. I'm supposed to be keeping the motor under 4000 rpm until the first service, but i exceeded that a few times when dicing with some of the local boys on their sports tackle on a twisty run near me.
The bike came with Metzler Tourance's, which seem very good for the tarmac. No idea what the bike's dirt prowess is like.
The only fly was trying to fit my Givi universal plate mount. The rear "carrier" is plastic and i managed to damage it during fitment. It's a poor quality piece of kit and i have discarded it and mounted the Givi carrier to the unit underneath. It'll serve as a temporary unit until i can order the specific Givi mount.

All in all a wonderful machine. You guys with vast amounts of terrain to play on will have a ball.

I plan to replace my rack with a SW Motech or Alt Rider rack with the adapters for a GIVI topbox. Likely a more versatile option than just the GIVI rack

I bought the ALTrider rack with the Givi adapters. It looks good and will lower the Givi box, I think. Seems much better than using the Givi rack. I hope it works out ok,, :D

japako, i wonder if the lower position of the ALT bracket along with the givi rack may create an interference with the side grab bars. it looked that way when i looked at their plate at the show this year. Just curious.

Jeff, I am not sure if it would or not. I ride solo and planned on removing the handles and seat and replacing with the rack from Tourtech. Not having the bike makes this a lot of guess work and I hope it all works. :) As I have all the parts, all I need now is a bike. :D

Another few miles this morning. Ordered my Givi rack. The bike and i are starting to "gel" the more the motor loosens up. Had a good clean down (part of the bonding session!) and i am really starting to appreciate all the thought that has gone into the bike. More miles tomorrow i hope.

Hmmm, I was not aware of this option with the ALTrider rack. Any idea how much lower?

Morning Rod, I'm not sure how much it will lower it, but the Givi rack looks about an inch thicker. Plus I think I can remove the OEM plastic. Maybe two inches lower? This is all guess work so far. :D

Morning back at you Jim! I may have to take a second look at the ALTrider setup. I all ready ordered/received the Givi rack, thinking it was the best way to go. I do like to keep the tail trunk as low as possible.

BTW, when you say "North Texas", are you talking WF area?

I probably should say North Central Texas.. I am about 25 miles south of Fort Worth.

Glen Rose area? My daughter/family live up in McKinney. I'm headed to Camp Wood (way south) for a weekend ride in early May. Planning to stop and see my daughter for a couple days on my way back north.

Between the Cleburn and Burleson area on 174. Wish I was riding with you, but no bike. :D I am going in for a back operation in the next couple of weeks, so will be laid up for awhile. Hopefully well enough to ride when the bikes get here. :)
If things work out, maybe we could meet up for a cup.

Nice bike Paul, course I still think you should have gotten the WHITE! >:D
