I've done searching in the forum and have seen lots of tire info, but I'm I know everyone rides different etc and tire wear varies. However the only tire I have seen on the threads that will for sure last 10k is the k60, but I think I want something better in the wet. What rears have you guys ran and got over 10k?

I have 13,200 miles on a Michelin Anakee 3 and it still has 5/32" of tread. I never was wild about the tire, but life was very good. The front is nearly worn out, so I'll be getting rid of the pair soon.

Looked up my vehicle service spreadsheet:

Metzeler Tourance Exp. (stock)...... 10,400 miles
Bridgestone Battle Wing BW502... 12,750 miles
Continental TKC80......................... 3,500 miles (Half warn)
Shinko 705.................................... 10,500 ~ 13,600 miles (3 tires)

This is on a 2012 XTZ12, about 85/15 (on/off road) daily rider.

I typically get 12k from a rear Heidenau K60 Scout for reference. I have an Anakee 3 on the rear now with over 12k and lots of tread left. I'm impressed with it's wear characteristics and longevity as well as how long it resisted squaring off, (better than the K60). That said, I will NEVER buy another Anakee 3 front tire. They wear in a horrible, tri-banded, nastiness that makes the steering unpleasant. Reminds me of an old original Pilot Road front, which wore about the same way.

If I were buying a new set of tires today, I'd probably either try the PR4Trail front with a PR4 standard rear, (the Trail has a softer compound and you can't get our front size in the standard type), or go with a Anakee 3 rear and a ContiTrail 2 on the front. I haven't run the PR4s yet, so don't know how they will wear for my riding style, which has been mostly street and gravel roads for the last couple of sets of tires. I don't commute, just go places with the bike. Often places far away. ;D

How in thee hell do you guys get anything like that out of a tire?
I must ride like a Hooligan or something on this bike!!
I admit I tend to move through the gears a bit slower at take off but I think I ride conservatively 90% of the time..
I also have a bit of a load when I travel and camp but no more than having a passenger..
My K60 was flat lined at 6k didn't like it anyway just to sloppy and clunky for me.
I pulled close to 6k out of the rear 805.

I'm with you on this Ramsey. I don't think I could get 10K miles out of a rear tire. At just over 5k on the stock tire, it is done. I think there can be many variables in tire life...road conditions (rough vs smooth), riding style, off-road tire spinning, etc. I am anxious to get my Mitas E07's mounted and try them out.

I had a PR3 trail and only got 5k out of the rear, mostly slab riding with a thousand or so two lane road so I'm skeptical the PR4 will get 10k.

I ran three 805's and got 4.5-6k from each. Mitas E0-7 Dakar got just shy of 11k. I'm neither hard or easy on tires but try to time end of life with street riding to get that last 1-2k miles by riding them near slick. I know some that change tires at 50% tread wear thinking they are worn out.

Tread life is mostly in the wrist.

FYI - PR3s had a medium compound in the center, harder on the outsides. PR4s have a hard compound in the center, medium on the outsides. Both versions, the Trails are softer compounds than the standard or GT versions.

I only got 6800 miles from a PR3T rear. I can usually get good life out of my tires. I'm a steady throttle guy. Braking in, powering out of corners will seriously impact tread life. Its not wrong, mind you, it just is harder on tires. Braking into corners, especially down hill ones will cup tires, (and low pressure for the load doesn't help).

I admit our roads in New Mexico are low budget to say the least and they are hard on tires.
I can't ride like I own a Harley but I don't ride like when I owned my 1050 triple Tiger >:D and I was getting the same miles on those tires as well.
Keep the air in check and ride every day now.

Man patrickg450 you must dime the thing 2k out of your Shinko's?
It has been my tire of choice for a few years now, one thing about Shinko rubber I found out they do well in wet conditions but don't like the paint used on the roads dry or wet.
Have you noticed this as well?
It's sort of weird.. ???

I had a K60, less than 5k, got the shinko (rear) and took it to AR last OCT. I was told I am running it to low. IDK, what pressure do you run?

I run 36F 42R regardless of brand. I'll air down for some off road, but not usually for gravel.
