What's wrong with the Super Tenere?

What's wrong with the Super Tenere? • It's a overweight pig (once going the heaviness disappears...yeah right!) • Poorly engineered location for the radiator (left side up high creates plenty of heat for the rider and susceptible for major damage with a tip over or dirt nap) • Badly planned...

    First service at 600 miles

It's amazing that we Americans are paying about $200.00 for the first service by dealers. Which really amounts to an oil change and checking bolts... usually performed by unskilled shop monkeys. Don't think my Super Tenere will ever see the incompetent dealer again (Roseville Yamaha).

    First service at 600 miles

After the purchase and royal screwing I got from Roseville Yamaha. I'll definately be doing the FIRST and ALL other routine mantenance on my ST. Any warranty issues ...goes to another Yamaha dealer.

    Know your Tools

To all my "handyperson" friends. I know some of this will sound familiar. 1. DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted project...

Fuel Mileage after the CO adjust and the TBS

Just a thought....maybe the California Super Tenere gets less MPG due to added smog devices (cannister, etc) I'm also getting 38 mpg (calculated by miles / actual gas used)

    The $200. Oil Change !!

Soon I will be ready for the first service at 600 miles. I have to wonder why the dealer charges so much for some oil, a filter and checking bolts. Question: How important is the first service to be done by Dealer? Why can't I perform the first service? Will there...

    speedometer is off by 10%

Being the owner of a DL650 Wee Strom, I soon learned about the inaccuracy of the speedometers on these bikes. At least for the VStroms there was Raceratb Gauge Faces to replace the factory ones (20 min job) and made the speedometer read very, very accurate. Alas, we have digital speedometers...
