Pikes Peak Ride Video - July 15th 2023

Nice one. That brought back some memories. I was lucky enough to ride Pikes Peak on a rental bike on a trip from NYC to LA about 15 years ago. It was about 12 months before they completed sealing the entire road, so I'm glad I got to do it while there were still a few miles of dirt.

    Another Spoke question

Just discovered I have a bent rear spoke today. Hub nipple missing and spoke flailing around as described. Yamaha only sell them as a full set. Does anyone know if the full set of spokes includes the full set of hub nipples? Don't really want to buy a full set to replace one, but I don't...

Just found something new hanging down......

Those battery tender plugs are known as SAE type. I have one hooted up to my battery so that it's on the tender when it's parked. Because there's so little room for extra wiring on the ES models, I have wired my autocom system (which is mounted under the pillion seat) and my GPS to a single...

    New Aussie Member

Welcome along mate. How's the new ride going? I bought my '14 ES new in July 15. Its going in for it's 10k service next week. I traded up from 125,000km on 2 VStrom 1000s. These bikes are chalk and cheese. The SuperTen is a far better bike of the two any way you measure them, and despite...

Headlight adjustment, only a phillips screwdriver needed

Great thread. I would never have found the adjustment screws myself. To adjust it I used my bendy screwdriver tool with a 8mm socket bit.

    being bright lighted

On my 20144 ES I got numerous flashes from oncoming traffic (particularly trucks) on a recent trip. I was one up with a duffle on the back seat with the suspension set to solo rider with luggage. I had to set the suspension to the two up with luggage in order to get the lights to aim low...

How do I unlock a locked OEM pannier? The lock has fallen out.

The lock will just be activating a mechanism to open or release the pannier which is very close to the lock, so with the barrel out, you should be able to get in there with a bit of coathanger wire and activate the release. Probably easiest to have a close inspection of the left pannier. You...

Cyclops replacement LED headlight bulb kit for Teneres

All headlights will behave differently to different LED lights. With a standard H4 or H7 globe, the source of the light is always in the same place, and the globe contains it's own reflector so that the headlight designers can design a headlight reflectors to deal with the light. LED globes on...

    Greetings earthlings

In the first month of ownership I've only taken it out of the garage 3 times. The first time was for an overnight 1000km ride. The second was to take it to the dealership for it's first service. The third was a 4,425km 6 day ride halfway across Australia and back. I am really loving this bike :)

    New 2015 ES Owners Australia

I paid a couple of thousand less than RRP for a new 2014 ES 3 weeks ago. I was pretty happy with that price. Dealer had dropped the price to move it. He had it advertised as an exdemo, but it had 0km. Now has 6000km on the clock and loved every one of them so far. It's only been on two...

Bike suddenly faster? Also stupid headlight question

It could make a difference, because once the key is in the on position, the computer should be able to get readings from all sensors, including the Throttle position sensor. Quite often the manufacturers program the ECU to react to a series of inputs to perform a reset of some kind. But...

Baja Designs OnX LED lights for Super Tenere Failed.

I bought the OnX Super Tenere kit a few weeks ago for my new '14 ES and even after removing the trim under the headlights could not get it angled up high enough to be useful on the road. I have a ride coming up and didn't have the time to be waiting for new bits to be shipped to Australia from...

Route Suggestions: Portland Oregon to Glacier National Park, MT.

I can't help with any route planning, but I am jealous as hell because in May this year I flew out from Australia to Portland OR, hired a bike and rode a 6000 mile loop, hitting the NPs along the way, Yosemite, Bryce Canyon then up to Glacier NP, , but it was a bit too early in the season and...

    Greetings earthlings

Thanks all for your welcomes. I picked up the bike yesterday, and had a 70km ride home. I chose to take the slow route through traffic rather than freeway to give me more riding time (and also a bit more variance for the engine's first few km. I was really blown away by the fuel economy being...

    Greetings earthlings

Hi everyone. Nev from Melbourne Australia here. I am picking up a brand new '14 XT1200ZE later this week. I am trading in a '12 Vstrom 1000. I'm buying the Super Ten primarily as a long distance highway bike, but I do like to venture off onto the dirt highways. I also like the ergonomics...
