New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Interesting. This fix seemed to fix the issue. No more overheating high or low idle or stuck idle and fuel economy is good as well. Very pleased so far. Did the same route up to 6500 feet that caused my first issues and the bike ran beautifully. Only issue is that about 30 miles after that I...

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Ok so I just completed the fix provided here http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=17952.0 So far so good. Took about 1.5 hours to do in the parking lot and 25 minutes of that was finding the right tools. I am currently staying at 5000 feet and the road coming into this area...

Think I will try the sensor replacement, if I can source one. Have to wait until Tuesday though dealers closed for the holiday weekend. Going to try the harness separation thing as well. Have to pull airbag though so hopefully i can do that in the parking lot with minimal tools.

No codes appearing or stored. I assume you have to lift the tank to get to that sensor?

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Bring this post back as this issue has happened yet again. I believe it is an altitude issue. Currently in North Carolina mountains and riding up Mt Mitchell, 6500 feet and bike ran like shit. Would not idle, either dies at idle or gets stuck at 4000rpms. Had to turn off bike to get it back...

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Continued altitude problem I had posted a thread about an issue I had last year with my cross country trip through Colorado with my bike 2013 with it performing like crap in the mountains which resolves itself back at sea level. Bike spent 2 weeks at dealer (sea level) with no resolution. Fast...

    8000 Mile Service

I was just quoted $199 OTD for the 8k service from my local dealer. Great price, until I start looking at the manual and what it requires and then thinking that they will most likely skip items in the checklist. For anyone that has had the 8K service done at a dealer, have they done...

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Something isn't right. I haven't ridden much lately due to work so I havent experienced anything new. I need to bring it in for its 8K service though. If you find anything that fixes it, please report back.

Got the SAG right on my 2014 non ES!

Mine is set closer to the 60mm mark. I have an aftermarket shock and spring due to weight. I was only getting 73mm with the stock spring. Some people say 30%, other say 1/3rd of total travel. Set mine to be in the middle of that range.

    Givi Trekker Outback side cases

I have had mine through extensive downpours with no leaks yet. They are riveted though so there is a chance of water getting in. I use the Givi waterproof liner bags as well just in case. I actually love the liners as they are great for just pulling out the bag and bringing into a hotel room or...

Loud brief knock sound from engine

If you are rolling on it anywhere under 3500 rpms, mine does the same thing. Others have said it is normal and the big twin doesn't like to be lugged. I bought the 5 year warranty so if it blows up, well new engine time.

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Went on a 200 mile ride this weekend, 88 degrees out in the Florida sun. Bike ran perfect. Temps sitting at 178 degrees while highway cruising, vibration that I was experiencing was non existent and overall no issues, except maybe for low idle at stop lights, felt like it was going to stall...

No idle and high idle problem

Re: No idle and high idle ?? Mine has done it 3 times. First when riding at 50 or so, pulled in clutch to change gears and idle shot up. Let out clutch and it went away. First I thought it was my go cruise interfering but after checking that it wasnt. Second time was from start up. Started...

Mine too but it was tight getting the connector to clip into the ECU. Not a difficult check though.

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

No worries on the loud part :) Although they didnt "find" anything they were looking and believed they checked more than what I currently know. All that diag stuff I am not familiar with so for the $100 and a really good showroom detail, cant complain too much. Going to have to figure out the...

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Picked the bike up from the dealer and it is running well. Talked with the GM of the shop for about 30 minutes regarding my concerns and what the tech went over, etc. Said they checked for vacuum leaks using brake cleaner, didn't pull plugs which left me a little peeved, but they did check TPS...

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

Well dealer not finding anything. So I guess I am "Chasing ghosts" and making it all up. Stuck throttle Yamaha says to check voltage on sensors which they did and came back in check. Temp issues Yamaha says is normal which is BS. I asked the service writer if they pulled plugs and checked...

New engine vibrations bad gas? Or something else? On the road, need suggestions.

You missed the part that this started in Alabama... right after I left Georgia actually. If you have never been to this part of the country, it is just, if not more, hot and humid as Florida is. It is about the same altitude as well. The only thing preventing the bike from overheating was the...
