Loud pipes DO NOT save lives

I don't really care for loud pipes anymore, but back in my younger days I was the idiot blipping his throttle has he rode under every overpass. Now I get amused at those guys. But that article though....good lord. I agree with the second half... the part about making yourself more visible...

    Linked brakes not working

Thank you for checking your bike. You’re probably right. I need to go for a ride and then come back and checking for heat on the brakes.

    Linked brakes not working

Thank you. That’s definitely what I need to do.

    Linked brakes not working

Do you notice a difference between applying both brakes vs just applying the front brake handle in terms of stopping difference? Cause I'm noticing a big difference. Do you ever use the rear brake pedal in conjunction with the front brake handle or do you just pull the front and let the...

    Linked brakes not working

i replaced all my brake fluids the other day and now it feels like the rear isn’t activating when I apply the front. I don’t know any other way to confirm this other than putting the bike on the center stand while in gear and applying the front brake. The rear wheel continued to turn at idle...

    Thinking about a second bike

Looks clean but has a lot of miles. Funny....Buda is not a very big place. You wouldn't think there would be 2 XR650L's for sale there.

    Thinking about a second bike

It is a crappy weather weekend and it's only gonna get worse the next few days here in Texas. But I managed to change the oil in my S10 and do the stud mod in preparation for my ACD skid plate that I'm going to install tomorrow if it's not too cold. Madhatter, I saw that cycletown south also...

    Thinking about a second bike

So to update, I’ve got 3 bikes in my sight which I wouldn’t mind some further feedback on. I should start by saying that I test rode a few smaller bikes and they didn’t do well under my size and weight. Even the DRZ400 acted like it wanted to raise the white flag under me. Also I should...

    Thinking about a second bike

I’m looking at a KTM530 that the owner got plated as street legal but.... I think I’m the latter in your post. Some days I don’t mind wrenching but other days ... not so much. What is it about the KTMs that make them require more maintenance than the Japanese bikes? What sort of maintenance...

    Madhatter wants a dirt bike….

I'm not far from Jarrell. I need to check into the trails there. I've mostly been going over to fort hood and riding there. They have miles of dirt roads and trails and it's the hilliest terrain in the area. I've only barely begun to explore it on my Super 10 when I realized I'd have way...

    Madhatter wants a dirt bike….

Have you ever been up to hidden falls adventure park? I don't think it's very far from you. I'd like to go up there at some point myself. Still haven't bought a dirt bike but they rent them there so I might just get one of theirs and have at it.

    Thinking about a second bike

That KTM 350 looks awesome. I really want a street legal bike though so that I don't have to trailer it to the nearby trails.

    Thinking about a second bike

A TW200 would be an awesome bike but I’m afraid I’d look dorky as hell with my big butt on one of those. Considering a Supermoto (drz400sm) with knobby tires on it. Same idea but not so small.

    Thinking about a second bike

Exactly what I’m thinking. It’s a great bike but my skill level won’t let me take it just anywhere. I’m looking hard at the DRZ400 as I want a bike that’s street legal but also powerful enough to carry my fat ass to the trails.

    Thinking about a second bike

Call me a namby pamby…. but I'm new to off road riding and reluctant to go out and risk my nice, expensive S10. I've done it a few times and always ended up feeling like I was in over my head and the constant fear of crashing loomed. I know the bike is made for it, but it's already my favorite...

    Shinko 804/805

I have them on my S10. But this is my first set and I have no idea yet about their longevity. Almost 3000 miles on them so far and the front looks great. Rear looks about 50%. They have been solid in all conditions. They are solid on wet and dry pavement, as well as the dirt.

    Enjoying the weather

Yeah I'm sure the shipping would be pricey.... but their sales price is so reasonable that perhaps you'd come out ahead in the long run.

    Enjoying the weather

I'm down near Waco. The humidity here is not fun but it's nothing compared to Houston where I grew up. You wouldn't think it would be that different from there to here but I notice a huge drop in humidity here, and I'm grateful for it.
