Hi guys

this is along shot to anybody that has mccruise fitted to there tenere, i took mine to a really good electric mechanic guy the mccruise was fitted and calibrated all came out good ready to go, now on the ride home first 7 miles ok but then the orange engine trouble warning light came on and stayed on for the 25 mile ride home BUT the mccruise was working as it should,
once home started the bike and the orange trouble light stayed on, i hit the kill switch and it went off tried again and it was off, so went for another ride and 10 mile in the orange engine trouble light was flickering every now and then but the bike in the slower lane of the motorway if you were riding at 55mph and slowly wind the throttle it has a small hesitation jerky feel but would pull through that then take off, but if you dropped back to 55 ish it would hesitate before picking up again and when i pulled into the house the orange warning light stayed on
i,ve sent this to mccruise to see if they can pick up whats wrong, just woundering if anybody on here had a similar issue with mccruise

also can somebody point me into finding error codes on a gen 1 screen

cheers guys

I can't help on the trouble light. But the hesitations that you're describing are the same as with the OE cruise. I've always thought it odd, because when the cruise control adds/subtract throttle, there's no hesitation at all. Absolutely seamless.

mmm,
this hesitation was on the bike when the mccruise was off, i have the orange engine trouble light flickering on and off and on a fast road with cruise off 55mph the bike is slighty jerky hesitates then picks up and goes but if it dropd down to 55 it hesitates again but no cruise active

The hesitation has to be something relating to calibration, assuming the TB sync wasn't touched.

I suspect the glimmering CEL will be a sensor, say on the airbox, that hasn't been plugged back in.

Good luck getting it sorted.

I did the install of an McCruise myself on my 2012. I had two wires swapped at the front brake lever, so things didn't work quite right. I sent an email to McCruise and less than an hour later I got a call from McCruise. They immediately knew what I messed up, and waited on the phone while I swapped the 2 wires and checked it. It was absolutely fantastic customer service from a small business half way around the world.

They may be able to help you if you can give them the error code and explain the problem.

the strange thin is, you can fire the bike up all the warning lights go off, you can ride the bike perfectly without cruise control on you can also use the cruise control if you want and it works fine but after about 10-15 miles into th ride the engine trouble warning light flickers once or twice then it after a few more miles stayes on, bike still performs perfectly with or with out cruise on, this had happened on the 3 test rides

the strange thing is with orange warning light, the mechanic said they normally just come on and stay on but while your riding, around the 10-15 mile mark its off but then it flickers on and off for a few miles more then at about 20 miles ish it comes on and stays on

guys,

need help from any of you geniuses, my bike is showing a map sensor error, codes cleared bike runs lovely but with engine trouble fault light on
so i got a aftermarket map sensor for the bike and it was delivered today bikes been at the garage for 3 weeks after the mccruise fitted

this is what i had back today from the workshop.

We've fitted it, and the bike runs terribly - hard to start, won't idle, misfires, backfires when throttle is applied... Disconnect it, and the bike runs like a dream, but with engine management light on. Just between you and me, this is taking quite a lot of Rowan's time and he's getting a real miserable bugger (more so than usual!
)

rob, any ideas

Your best bet is to speak to McCruise directly. I'm guessing that during the install that some of the wiring was done incorrectly. Its not a difficult install but a wire or two could easily be put together wrong and is causing the poor running issue. If it were me I would follow the instruction step by step and ensure everything is done correctly.

Reading about your mc cruise problems makes me thankful I never attempted to install one on my previous 2013. I just paid the big money to upgrade to a 2018 with factory cruise control. Lots of folks have had very good luck with mc cruise.

it has been done correctly by a top guy, mcruise after the issue has been helping guy called frank but nothing in the mccruise kit gets attached or would cause a map sensor issue

I went back and re-read your last post. I took it that when the McCruise was disconnected the bike ran perfect but when it was connected the bike ran poorly. After re-reading the post I assume you were talking about the new map sensor that was installed.

I'm simply saying you had no issues (engine light on) prior to the McCruise install. I'd revert back to the original setup without the McCruise and stop changing out other parts chasing the problem.

I'd be more concerned about the aftermarket sensor, install a known working Yamaha sensor before changing other parts. And I agree with above, everything worked fine before the aftermarket cruise control.............. disconnect it to eliminate it as the source of the problem. Maybe in the process of disconnecting it, the technician will see something that got disturbed during the install.

This is because the bike is running on its start up run / worm up software..... Once its goes thought this "start" software and its starts self diagnostics it picks up the code and tells you. (about 10-15 miles down the road) Ive seen this before...

hopefully,

mechanic got back to me error codes were 13-14 he said my map sensor that when i rode the bike back was ok, but the warning light was on and stayed on, so i bought a after market map sensor, he put that on and it was terrible didn,t want to start coughed and spluterred, but he,s come back to say he rode my bike 3-4 times this last week and it got worse and worse shuddering coughing and spluttering was a danger on round abouts so my oem did get worse and worse pointing to map sensor i think the after market one was shit to probably, at the mo he is taking his 1 year old t700 apart to get a oem map sensor on it, lets just hope
been with out the bike a month since it went in for mccruise to be fitted if i have to buy a £167 sensor to get it right and bike back bargain
