Just giving this a shot, who knows if a Grand dad / dad / brother / uncle / cousin / or Co-worker might have what Im looking for...... Typically when I ask for help or even have a personal question I dont even get one response...... But I guess I will try again.......

Looking for a Monarch 10EE or possibly a Colchester "round head" 13" or 15" student / toolroom (last: maybe a Colchester 15" "square head")

Crusty is OK.... I don't care where you are in the lower 48

Thanks

Your probably not the only person wanting the right Lathe.

I'd like this one.
That is nice. Depending on what you want to do that should do it. Ya never know when someone might have something in the back of there garage they have “forgot about”. Long shot, but fun to ask.

Are you going to go pick that machine up?

A Lathe is something I'd love to have in the shop.
If I stumble on the right deal one day I may bring one home.

I wish you luck in your search!

If you are a youtube watcher, check out cutting edge engineering australia. He does a lot of machine work on some large stuff. He has some very large and nice machines.

Some think shipping costs are prohibitive for a set of panniers, but imagine shipping this.
This is about 3800 Lbs..... In the world of heavy freight it's actually not that bad..... It only gets crazy when you start wanting to ship 40K Lbs machine across country. The freight is more than the [old / used] machine..... Recently came across someone scraping several 38K and 45K Lbs machines.... just for scrap value, it's to expensive to move or ship / set them back up.... Pretty sad to see the old iron go to scrap........ 'sad face'

100%...... I feel like if you want any of the good old stuff there seems to be a cult fallowing.... People come across the worn out 'good' stuff and try to pass it along to the "unknowing"... But the good stuff tucked away in a basement or a garage is very hard to find. Many people look diligently for many years and don't come across what they are looking for. Ive learned that if you see what you want, and it is in good condition you might want to jump on it. The item will be gone in seconds or minutes if it's a good deal (good deal is extremely "relative", depending on what someone is looking at). Ive painfully found out, you cant "think about it" over lunch..... that thing is GONE & SOLD.......... 'very sad face'

Not sure if this helps, but we have a "surplus auction" company in WI. They get all sorts of random stuff from tech schools, municipalities, school distircts, closing businesses, and such ( hey, want to buy a lot of 100 school chairs?). I didn't see a lathe in the current offers, but there may be something in your neck of the woods that is similar and worth checking on. I see some pretty attractive wood and metal working equipment that comes up with some regularity. Most is too big or just unwieldy for me to consider and I've managed to avoid an impulse purchase of an old ambulance or skid steer, but those sorts of auctions are a good place to these older and special-needs equipment.

Did you look on Facebook Marketplace? I punched it in and there must be a dozen for sale in my area.
Holy cow. Really. PM me your location. I’ll look in that area. Yes, I like FBMP. Not to many tools down in Texas.
