I'm curious as to the recoil. It has to be light. But it's only a 20ga, but it's light. It looks like it might be a 22" barrel, but it's light. :D

Look what the cat dragged in!

A British 12GA double barrel underlever. Beautiful condition and very neat engraving. Because it is BP I don’t need a permit for it, nor keep it in the safe. Only the ammunition is restricted, so I’ll start the process of filing for that soon. Happy me!

I ask because I know a guy that has a Stevens. He says it's light and kicks like a mule. But his is a 12ga. So, I was wondering how the 20ga was. :D
One a scale of "Kitten" to "Hysterical Bison at full-Charge", I would rate this as a solid "Angry Mule"
It is actually the Hardest-Kicking firearm that I currently own........and I own quite a few different long-guns.

It is crazy light!
Fully-loaded to maximum round capacity of "One Shell", it weighs in at a whopping 4-lbs, 13.5-ounces. I can easily pick it up with just my pinky-finger.

Oh, and it's a 28" Barrel.

To give this perspective, my fully-loaded Mossberg home-defense 12-gauge weighs in at just about 11-lbs with a full magazine and an extra 5 rounds in the side shell-holder.
The Mossberg 590 also has an aftermarket pistol-grip, recoil-absorbing Buttstock on it. I can blast that one off all day long, no problem!

This Stevens................not so much!

Whenever I'd bring a bunch of long-guns to the Range, I would usually save this gun until last............
After a few hours of shooting various other shoulder-fired weapons, I could usually get about 4 or 5 rounds through this one and then I was absolutely DONE!
She'll bruise ya.

It was actually fun to hand it off to a couple of my "Tough-Guy" friends, and then watch their reaction as this "Plastic Kids-gun" brutally pummels them! :D

WOW!
That is absolutely Gorgeous!
You've definitely "One-Upped" me with that one..................... or "Two-Upped" me. :D

The next time I make it over to my Brother's place in NY, I'll be bringing home a couple more projects that also belonged to my Grandfather.
My younger Brother ended up with them at the acquiring of my Dad's Estate when he passed, but he is going to turn them over to me. He says he has no plans to do anything with them.
One of them is a late-1800's production Lever-Action with quite an interesting past..........(more on that one at a later date)
The other one is this "Over-Under" Antique.............Not sure the details of it yet, but it probably dates back to somewhere around the 1850's
I'll know more about it once I get it here.

nice work! After looking into the Tenite resin system, with the wisdom of hindsight I see why it is inherently unstable and it will continue to degrade regardless if what you do. My storage suggestion is cool, dark and controlled humidity. i.e. Keep it with the beer
This will be kept in the Basement, locked in the cool-dark Safe.

I also bought a couple of these to put in there for humidity-control.
I've never used this type of device, but it claims to be reusable for up to 10-years.
You just plug them in for a day or two to "Recharge" them.

We'll see how this works out first, before I resort to more drastic measures............

Blast From The Past, Ammo Pricing!

When was the last time you've seen prices like these?

I came across these while moving my supplies to a more temperature-stable storage location.

How about a box of five 20-gauge Slugs for $2.47
IMG_6828.JPG

Or this box of five, for $1.97

I have two boxes of these.................Box of 25 Shells for $2.35

Next up is a box of twenty 308-Win cartridges for either $4.64 or $5.15!
I also have two boxes of these that came from my Dad

I'd like to know where "Reliable Jewelry and Sport Shop" is?
You can buy Ammo and a Wedding-Ring in the same transaction :p
"Shotgun-Wedding" anybody??

Last but not least is a Box of twenty 357-Magnum self-defense rounds.

Apparently I bought these at "Shooter's World" when I lived in Arizona.

Their current price is $41.08!

A little bit of disassembly and cleaning the Mossberg today.

I haven't cleaned this thing in quite a long time.
The Bore was pretty dirty, and I also wanted to install the upgraded Magazine-Follower I recently got.
Underneath the Heat-Shield was pretty filthy also. Wanted to clean and oil the Barrel under there.

Next to the original one.

Easier to see at a glance that the Magazine-Tube is empty.

As much as I like and trust my Sig, I can't take it a lot of places so between lonely parking lots in the camper van, boat we spend nights on, and an increase in night time home invasions, been thinking about picking up a Winchester Mariner 12 ga 18" barrel for $370. (https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/winchester-sxp-marine-defender-pump-action-shotgun) Can swap barrels to hunt if wanted (I don't) and it reminds me of my Dad's Model 12 Winchester so there's an emotional aspect too. Would prefer the Rem 870 Mariner but it costs a lot more.
See lots of good YT videos and positive Bass Pro/Cabella reviews but then a few individuals mention feed issues when new. Those ought to show up quick if it's one of those guns. Never really was comfortable with how loose Mossbergs feel even though I know it's intentional, see more jamming reports, and it can cost even more than the Remington now.
So anybody here have one?

I have the Remington 870 version; 18" barrel and 7rd magazine. The biggest improvement to it was the adjustable stock. I think I've found a version of the Streamlight in post #1,092 above for it. My oldest kid can shoot skeet doubles with this. I have to assume that they make a similar stock for the Winchester. I'm assuming you want stainless due to y'all's weather? This one is 12 years old and no rust. But we're a lot drier.

Don't have any experience with the Winchester Shotguns (all my Winchesters are lever-action Rifles)
I've always favored Mossberg when it comes to pump-action 12-gauge,(I like how loose/smooth my action is, and it has never jammed or failed to feed) but I'm familiar with the Remington too.
Interesting that they chrome-plated the barrel and mag-tube, as apposed to a stainless-mariner.............I suppose if they are trying to compete with the affordable options, then stainless would drive the price up.
If research and reviews are good, I'd say "Go for it"!
