Only mx so far has been plugs, filter, and oil changedHas the valve cover been off? Very easy to put it back on with the gasket out of position and oil will leak past.
Ouch. On the other hand, case closed.. . . . Well I found this
Hopefully!Ouch. On the other hand, case closed.
Are those chew/munch marks?
The o-ring looks intact, surprised that would leak.
If that is indeed the problem good catch. I bet we will all look at the state of our fill cap a little more thoroughly next time it is off.Well I found this
Looks like a straight crack, maybe a rock or temp differentialAre those chew/munch marks?
Me thinks something was nibbling on that cap.Looks like a straight crack, maybe a rock or temp differential
Shiny part is the cam chain tensioner. Do not take it off. The top rubber piece fills in where they bored the head for the cam. I would clean it up real good, throw on some baby powder, start it up and see where the leak is. The baby powder will let you see the leak real quick. So oddly enough, the cap wasn't the issue. Upon further investigation it seems to be coming from these areas but it's hard to tell. Anybody know what part that silver piece is? Is this a project I should tackle myself or let the dealer handle it? Getting it fixed quickly is more important than a few hundred dollars.
The valve cover has never been off, I bought this bike new and never had it Mx'd at a shop besides the cruise control recall. Just a freak failure apparently. It also could be the silicone half moons too, I didn't get all the details, they might just be doing everything as a good measure.I refer you to post #2, I'm just too polite to say I told you so. <grin>
