Correct, I rest my point, the Japanese improved the HD motor to what it is today. Before this well, it was to be desired.
I just prefer water cooled. Out in the California mountains stuck behind some RV's going 20 mph up steep mountains my Wing's fans would come on bring Temps down to normal. Stop and temp would climb within a minute to fans on. As soon as I got around them and could maintain at least 28 mph fans stayed off. All I could think about was what would I be doing on an air cooled HOG. Cooking myself and the engine. Steep, slow and hot would be murder on those bikes.

I believe from the 2012 bikes on (HD) they will go into 'Parade Mode', basically it turns off the rear cylinder so that it acts like an air pump and helps to cool the motor down by displacing more hot air. It does work, I had it kick in when going through Arizona in early July about 7 or 8 years ago and we were stop and go while going over Hoover Dam. Man, you thought they were underpowered with 2 cylinders...
Once we got up to speed the other cylinder kicked in and it ran like normal.

1 cylinder going up steeper grades... hmmmm. But that's interesting how it shuts the rear cylinder off.
Thanks for adding a little bit of knowledge. Like you tag too as that's how I teach students about our big diesels at work.

It does not stay off that long, not sure how they do it but once we were moving at a bit of speed it started up again, you could feel it kick back in.
My oldest son was a flight instructor at the time and he used it to explain the plane engine and I thought it was very catchy.

I had a 2005 HD that would go into parade mode. Interesting the first time, but as soon as you rolled on any throttle, it would go back to normal.

Forget the money aspect for ONE minute..... The thought and technology is pretty amazing. I know this is not everyones cup of tea..... no problem, we all have choices.... Anywho, think of this read as "what the world is working on"................. Pretty crazy in many respects, and HP is at the bottom of this "wow" list for me.... Many other concepts, ideas, thoughts, that are introduced into an awesome riding experience....
I personally don't like the chain aspect, but I get it......

If they let you barrow this bike for 1 year, would you except it and ride it anyway you want?..... or would you turn down the opportunity?

Please opine, -

What’s not to like, it looks very good, goes and stops extremely well, looks to have decent ergonomics and capable of covering huge distances in comfort. I’m surprised at the weight though, especially being chain driven. The BHP and technology is excessive for my needs, but I’ll use what I want/need and the rest can sit in the background.

Ride it for a year…….yes please. Own it…..couldn’t afford it.

Big thumbs up from me.

I absolutely would!
I can't afford one...................wish I could.
I like that it caps the HP to "around 100" in Enduro-mode
Would love the opportunity to ride one of these for a week of moto-touring/camping/adventuring

I think I read that 'off-road mode' is 117 HP................. LOLOLOLOLO Ha-Ha.

For riders that are experienced, the HP numbers on this bike are just stupid... fun, but dumb.... LOLOLOLO

10 more hp than my current bike...nothing stupid sounding about that. Just another 6% or so. :)

I'd definitely consider it a contender.

Oh wait...how much? Never mind.

Sweet, would do. Fortunately that 39K valve check interval should allow enough time for you to save the $$ to actually pay to get it serviced.

Two Super Teneres for the price of one Ducati. o_O
With that being said, someone else could also say with the Tenere at half the price of the Multi-….

You get half the power, 1/10th of the sophistication of what the Multi offers, and about 20-30 features the Tenere doesn’t even offer or has ever offered. Obviously they have a market for this type of machine, it just might not be you or I.
I’m not defending that pretty crazy price, but I do appreciate some of the items they have incorporated. As I get older some of those items they offer would certainly add to my motorcycle experience.
And if I ever win the Lotto- I’ll run out and try something special like this….. Ha-

Does it come with a BIG "F" box of parts, Its Italian, it's fragile and even a little shady..LOL.. on how good it is.
Wouldn't trust it if my life depended on it, it probably strand me in the middle of nowhere to die.
BUT it sure is PURDY, well sort of.
