Maybe I missed it. Has there been official notice of discontinuation of the S10 in N. America from Yamaha?
From Yamaha . . . . no. But several articles speak of the discontinuation, and several big-name aftermarket suppliers no longer make skid plates or crash bars for her. And we know that the motor won't meet EURO 5 specs.

I bought a new 2021 S10 last November based on the rumored discontinuation of the bike. Yamaha is still selling the exact same color scheme for 2022 in what appears to be an effort to clear them out. It would be great to see an updated S10 or CP3 triple based adventure motorcycle.

I did the same thing and figured I'd trade it in if a decent refresh were to have hit while also insuring I still had a young one with Y.E.S. going forward. Looks like it was the right move.

As for a triple, you really want that many moving parts out in the middle of nowhere?

That's where the S10 wins out, you don't want a racehorse in the desert, you want a Camel !

I still maintain that IF there is an updated T-12, it will be carried as a Tracer GT. With the MT-10 motor.

So you believe that a triple has that many more moving parts? Guess you better get a pull start Briggs and Stratton powered scooter!

Now that would really be something! I would love to have an MT-10
To "me", the Tracer + MT 10 motor checks all the boxes: more power, less weight, TFT screen, all the electronic nannies that the R1 has, speed shifter, etc. The current T-12 for most people is more of a GT than a desert crosser. The motor would be wider, but still much narrower than the GS. There wouldn't be all that much of an issue for Yamaha to produce it. They turned the FJ 12 into the FJR which was a much bigger jump.

Yamaha has already used the MT 07 motor on the T-7, and there's talk of using the MT 09's . . . . next obvious step would be the 10. I thought maybe Yamaha didn't see a future in the ADV market, but all the other manufacturers are going all in. Hell, even H-D is all in. So, I don't see Yamaha abandoning it.

We've done this "Is it canceled?" question/debate every single year since probably 2013. Different year and same answer is that we won't know till the company officially says it. Even when they start posting the next year's models, they don't put them all out at once.

Personally, I'm really intrigued by the new 1200 Tiger, I just don't want to pay what they are asking. Or at the other end, possibly a Guzzi V85TT. If Guzzi does release an adventure version of the new 1,000 cc Mandello engine, I am going to be very interested.

The problem with a triple is the low end torque lost, now as a street bike the triple works but off tarmac any thing with 3 or more cylinders have issues with low end torque.
If Yamaha plans to stay in the ADV scene a 3cylinders is a step backward and will make it more of a street bike. But then maybe that is what many want a wannabe ADV.
Slugging in dirt its hard to beat that big brute twin when loaded, no triple will match that.

The price of the Mandello is 15.999 E and 18.499 E for the S model in Spain.
