Yes Paul, see below post.
So I have just bought my long term keeper bike and I have never ridden an XT1200 before!!Its a basic 'Z' model as I don't need the extra bits and they are a bargain price. Extra bits I can add on cheaper. I don,t need ES. First job is too paint it from boring matt white to rally blue and anodize the wheels yellow like the new 700 Tenere Rally edition. Also get it chipped for another 20HP?IMG_3169.PNGIMG_3189.PNG

Yes Paul, they are VERY rare SAAB Ronal Alloys, the very last set sold by SAAB! Had SAABs all my life, first 96 when I was 13. This is a solid one owner, 70k miler in Opal Green. Another keeper, just stripped out engine bay for a tart up.

I have had mainly Yamahas starting with a DT50 to XJRs and a Thunderace and having sold my troublesome GS I wanted a simple, reliable workhorse for touring before such bikes sell out without the worry of a GS, KTM, Ducati, Triumph gadget, sales pitch on wheels etc breaking down. Nice to see Yamaha still at the top of the reliability listing with BMW at the bottom. I am keeping my 6000 mile XJR to compliment the Tenere. Cannot wait for it to be delivered. I know I will have it for twenty odd years and do more worry free miles on it than any other bike, it will see me out... and I am only 55 ;) LOL!

Welcome from Lancashire

I've just part exchanged my beautiful white 2015 with 47k on the clock for a new 'pre-registered'. Decided if I didn't do it now I would not be able to get another 'new' S10

Here's mine at the dealers but they are transferring all my accessories across.

CERAMIC ICE XT1200.PNG

Comparing pictures it looks like we bought from the same dealer or dealership group

I'll post a picture when I get it home which should be later this week

Mike

Welcome aboard.

That supposed extra 20 hp ain't gonna happen as chipping/ flashing the chip doesn't change the physics of what the engine can make power with, it only changes the throttle response.

Thanks for the welcome folks.... interesting about the re-map, so it doesn,t give you 20 hp more, just a quicker throttle response!? I am not bothered either way, it's not the bike to go charging around on. I go out with mates 3-4 times a week and it will make me slow down a bit. The XJR is not as quick as my FJR was, that was REALLY quick but I will be using the XJR mostly during the summer for group rides. Ive only had it a few weeks and have done over a thousand miles already. Having both bikes will keep the mileage down on each a bit...

Mike, yes ordered from Wigan Yamaha, (stock photo) i don,t expect I will get it anytime soon. I have also asked for it to be delivered unless I hire a car. They have told me it's registration PE70 OTK and said they would take some pics of it for me. I don,t think it has even arrived from central Yamaha storage yet but no rush. Have you seen yours in the dealership? Do you know it's reg etc, it could be close to mine. Have fun on her mate. If you go in have a butchers for mine ;)

A Preston registration number. Must be coming from Chorley, not Wigan?
Salesman said it was coming from the central Yamaha storage that all the dealers have access to in Adlington... so I wonder if they have just bought it from the Chorley branch... EDIT, just looked it up, Adlington is about 4 miles south of Chorley!

Welcome ... nice S10 on its way :)
Had a fair few XJR's over the years, loved them and really prefered the older models before they changed the shape of the tank ... went to Lake Garda on one and then did Monte Carlo on another, great bikes ... was in the XJR Owners club fior a fair while as well, very active club it was. Pic of one of mine, fond memoriesDSC00068.JPG

Welcome from Texas. I agree with your reliability assessment(s). But, don't be surprised if you get some push back from certain members though. The re-map actually slows the throttle response down. "I" love the factory throttle setting(s). Many here hate it, and like a carburetor style response instead. But, I agree with tallpaul, give the bike a chance "as-is". And, don't be too certain that the Tenere can't keep up with whatever your mates are riding. The Tenere is deceptively quick/fast, and when you get the suspension sorted. . . . she'll handle quite well.

My reg is PJ70 (reg 30/11/20) and is also from Wigan Yamaha

Both Wigan Yamaha and Chorley Yamaha (along with Millennium, Orrell Superbikes, Bolton Kawasaki, KJM. Colin Appleyards. KD Motorcycles, Robinsons, etc) are part of the MotoGB group

See

When I was in the shop about 3 weeks ago they had 2 or 3 non electronic suspension bikes on the shop floor as well as a couple of ESAs. You probably bought one of them. I've probably seen yours but they don't have the reg plates on them.

The workshop is very busy at the moment. A friend of mine has booked his S10 in for the front brake light switch recall about 10 days ago and cannot take it in until the end of June (he's not bothered as his bike is running perfectly). It has taken them just over 3 weeks to PDI my new bike and transfer the accessories across from my old bike (there were a lot to be fair). I'll be picking mine up this week, probably Tuesday

It's my first time dealing with Wigan Yamaha but they do seem to be a very contentious and well run outfit

Enjoy your new bike

Mike
