Doing my crash bar research then. Read almost every post !

Altrider and Outback at the top of my list. Outback are not in stock and no timescales. Altrider are and they additionally do the upper set (having hit a deer and a pheasant). Now I have a couple of questions. The Raid comes with PIAA style fog lamps. I assume the top bar wouldn’t fit with these? If not do people fit a set of Denali to the upper bar?

I've dropped mine at least 25 times. Altrider saved me everytime. Bent my shift lever a little once with my boot under it. Learned to just let her go after that.

Mine has been down on both sides on the Givi bars with no damage but given the choice again I'd go Altrider.

Ive always used Puig. Cheap and good. When the bike is down, not even the handlebar touches the floor..excellent.
The reason I dont like some of the others is that they restrict access to the side panels. That would really p*** me off if I couldn't get quick access to the battery/fuses etc. Put that in your decision would be wise??

Also the Puig ones work well for homemade leg/feet weather guards like I have on mine. Believe me, if you're rider all year in the uk your feet WILL get wet kn the Tenere without some homemade guards. Even my Daytona Goretex boots leak like a teabag after 3 or 3 hrs riding in the pissing rain without my homemade leg/feet guards

Not the prettiest but these work pretty good. I quite often do 3hr+ rides in the pi**ing rain and these make a big difference to keeping my feet dry. They're made out of builders "rubble matt" which can be bought at B&Q. Fairly cheap and its easy to bend/cut/shape.
This bike is my workhorse so I dont really care about how it looks. More concerned about function. One day though, from the same material I will try to fashion some that have a slightly prettier shape.

Cheers for the pics, I've never come across rubble matt before, I was looking for something to make handguard extensions and that might do the trick. Sadly I can't see a way of adding foot protectors to my Givi bars.

I think it was B&Q or could have been Homebase. It's perfect for this kind of thing. Can be cut with strong scissors, is flexible but is still thick enough to nut flex in the wind.
Next time I do it I'll probably cut it with a Dremel to get a smoother finish and better shape

I also want some handguard extensions. This rubble matt would be perfect. The only reason I haven't done it yet is that I reckon the only way to use this to extend the handguards would be to rivet it and I dont really want to drill/rivet my handguards

Welcome from California. I started out with 500 down sight unseen in 2011. You'll love the bike.
I've not seen them first hand, but the T-Rex product line is good looking on film and the reports are good.
I've got the AltRider bars and the ACD skid pan. Very stout setup.
