Randomly ran across this video from a guy replacing the clutch and basket when he upgraded to a 2014 basket. Great camera angle and explains it very well.
Just curious, why wouldn't you replace the plates? I mean its kind of one of those "I'm here" lets add the extra 10 mins to the job things its it?If anyone does the clutch basket swap, but WITHOUT replacing the plates, you don’t have to remove the wire and the plates beyond it.
Thank you Kyle for posting the great "how to video"!! I'm really liking the design of the OEM clutch!! And yes I agree 100% to replace the plates.Just curious, why wouldn't you replace the plates? I mean its kind of one of those "I'm here" lets add the extra 10 mins to the job things its it?
Not a waste of money at all. Just smart and judicious maintenance.I swapped my basket to the updated version at around 13k miles, as the gen2 item was a big improvement over the gen1 item. At this mileage the plates probably still have 80% or more life still left in them, a waste of money replacing at this point.
For me, junking virtually new items for the same items is a waste of money. The plates still have 50k miles in them. If they need changing in 3 or 4 years, I can suffer the 40 minutes it takes to do then.Thank you Kyle for posting the great "how to video"!! I'm really liking the design of the OEM clutch!!
