Greetings all from Victoria BC Canada,
Just picked up my new, slightly used, 2012 Tenere on Sunday. Been wanting one of these ever since I first saw it. I've been riding an 08 650 Vstrom and it has served me very well but felt it was time to turn up the wick a little. My Wee Strom works well but fully loaded on a US highway you need to make an appointment before attempting a pass on a 75 mph freight truck. The Yamaha Super Tenere was the answer.
The deal all came about at the Vancouver Bike show held every year in January. My riding buddy Brad and I attend every year to drool over the new rides. While I was salivating over the new 2013 Tenere an old gent walks up and we get into a chat about bikes and travels. He tells me he has a 2012 Super Tenere but that his wife doesn't like it, she prefers the Wing. Sez he's thinking of selling it and asks what do I ride. I told him the Vstrom and without skipping a beat he says that works for me how bout we trade? I met him the next day to look over the Tenere. The odo read 285kms, the tags were still on the liner bags and tank bag, I couldn't believe it. A quick ride and I was in love. I wrote him a cheque for $6500 said goodbye to my wee strom and was down the road. Within three blocks I was on the freeway in Chiliwack heading back to the ferry terminal to home on Vancouver Island. This thing goes like a cut cat! Gonna have to reprogram my throttle hand somewhat. Second ride was yesterday in the rain so I took it easier until I get used to things. Next will be a few add ons, bars, skid plate, etc. Hope you guys don't mind the questions.
Definitely, definitely, definitely very happy, definitely,

Rainman

From another previous V-Strom owner in Victoria, welcome. You will be just fine in this town as long as you got a blue one. ::013:: Sounds like a great deal for both of you. Give it the necessary 5-6000 Km break-in time to really come to life and enjoy. Just about forgot, you can put away the chain lube now. ::022::

Along with the useful advice, there's also plenty of useless commentary for entertainment and irritation at no additional charge. Part of the fun is in trying to figure out which is which. :D

You'll love the bike.

Welcome,

Just bought a Wee Strom, well the wife has, but I will probably take it to work now and again as the Tenere costs twice as much as my car to run

You should love the grunt of the Yamaha, but maybe not so much the associated tyre wear ???
