Do any part of the locks go with the Pannier? There is the cylinder, the sleeve it goes in and the 2 little screws. When I bought my bike the bags were already on it. I assume not and these 3 pieces all stay with the bike correct?

Thanks
Ed

Just so I understand you, you've a cylinder, a barrel and a couple of self tapping screws... the S10 when new from the factory came with 3 sets of these (placed under the seat) and were "keyed alike" with bikes ignition. That way when one wanted to have the factory side-cases/panniers and topbox installed, they'd be fitted with said locks. If you have already got your S10 with the aforementioned side-cases/panniers then that remaining key cylinder & barrel are for the topbox, so should stay with the bike. Especially useful for the day when one or another wishes to fit the OEM topbox (exactly my situation). The first owner of my S10 had everything fitted 'out the door' ie extensively farkeled with everything except the topbox, so having the original key cylinder & barrel is a real help.

My S10 came with the locks fitted to the boxes, The locks look the same as those that were on my FJR, s If I recall one or two owners had problems with those small screws working loose, a little locktight on the threads did the trick. I never had a problem myself and will be checking the screws on my S10 before any I use the boxes.

I just bought a top case and am trying to install the OEM locks. My old eyes aren't worth a darn. I was trying to install the locks to the new case but can't seem to figure out what type of head is on the two screws for the lock assembly. Neither my allen head or torx head wrenches will work. I put on my reading glasses to see better but it didn't look like either tool would work. Not sure why I am attempting this now since I am 1. very tired and 2. full of beer. Any help? By the time I read the replies I will be well rested, sober, but not any younger. Thanks.

The screws are an anti tamper t10 torx. A normal t10 torx wont fit but you can buy the security or anti tamper t10 at any half decent tool shop. Should only cost a couple of bucks at most. ::008::

Note too, if the little tiny Security Torx screws are not Loc-Tite'd in, the lock will fall out and be lost at the side of I-80 somewhere near Danville, PA. ::013::

Did you know, you cannot buy the locks keyed to the bike? (Ignition, Seat, Gas, other bags)

They are pretty easy to re-arrange the lock slides (and file a little) to make the new one Key'Alike to the bike. Mine all match again.
