New to the forum as well as the Super T. Just picked up my new 2014 last month and I absolutely love it. Still breaking it in and haven't rigged it with crash bars, skid-plate and a more aggressive set of tires so I have yet to bring it to its full potential. That said, I have been searching this forum for what anyone and everyone believes to be the best protection for the Super T. I have yet to find any reference to ease of removing skid-plates for oil changes. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Welcome Georgie
I have the ALT Rider plate and I don't have to remove it to change oil or filter. It has held up fine with having to remove it 2 or 3 times to hammer it back into shape after a good ride.

Welcome aboard! The top choices for skid plates are the Rumbux, the Alt Rider, the ACD and the Ride-On ADV. EricV can chime in on the Rumbux (he's the US importer); I have the Altrider and I drop the plate for my oil changes. It takes a few extra minutes, but it's not difficult.

Welcome from Texas! I have the RideOnAdv skid plate . Both it and my Altrider crash bars proved themselves as I watched my bike slide across a moss covered low water crossing. Also I can change the oil with no removal of the skid plate and its strong enough to place a jack under for tire removal.

Welcome to the forum. You'll love the bike more and more as you get more miles on it. ::012::

There are only three skid plates that do not mount to the cast aluminum sump, ACD from Spain, Ride On ADV from Jaxon in Texas, and the Rumbux which is a fully integrated 3-Part system of crash bars and skid plate.

As said above, I am the US importer for Rumbux. Rumbux has upper crash bars, a lower bash frame, and a 4.5mm aluminum skid plate that is bolted directly to the lower bash frame with 6 bolts into heavy duty nut clips which allows a single tool to remove the skid plate for oil/filter changes. Very little added time in doing oil/filter changes and excellent protection.

IMO, the ACD is a good piece of kit, though will take some more time to remove for oil/filter changes. Probably not much different from the AltRider in time, though I believe the ACD to have a better mounting situation. The Ride On ADV skid plate is the most protection money can buy and bomb proof by any standard. It also costs as much or more than the full Rumbux 3-Part kit, so you are getting what you pay for, but you have to be willing to pay that premium.

Feel free to PM, email or give me a call if you have more questions about Rumbux Adventure Products. I import the full line, but mainly do so as demand is present. I don't stock product as I am a one man show. I place orders nearly every month with a 6 week lead time between when I order and when customers receive their products. Phone is in my sig line. email is in my profile.

Welcome Georgie PowPow!

Well, it is going to be hard for me not saying the ACD Racing Parts Adventure Aluminum Skid Plate for your Yamaha S10 is not the best choice for your new ride!

Any way they are fully compatible with ALTRider crash bars and, guess what, we have a special 10% off on our Super Ténére XT1200 Z / EZ Skid Plate. Use the STFORUM05H coupon code at check out on our web site.
