So my 2015 ZE has the 12V Cigarette Lighter type socket on the upper right hand side of the fairing. Great.
It has a waterproof cover on it so when not in use it keeps the recess and electrics dry. Great.
But if i get a USB charger adaptor to plug in and to charge my phone when riding and it rains then water will get into the charger /electrics. Bad.
Has anyone got / seen a waterproof solution that i can plug in to charge my phone on the move but not keep the water out of the electrics ??

I can't find it right now on here, but I at one time suggested using a baby feeding bottle nipple, make a small incision and feed the USB lead through it, then onto the plug, this now has a brim that prevents water getting on the socket while in use, I still use it.

I installed a Powerlet (BMW) port on the left side. The Powlerlet plugs do not vibrate loose. When I need to connect multiple electronic devices to keep them charged I run the appropriate cables into a mini tank bag to keep organized & dry. The little tank bag also keep the excess cabling tidied up. Usually I am just using a Powerlet cable to connect & run the GPS alone, but it is good have options to charge up the phone, camera, etc. all at once.

Side Note: one of the smallest tank bags I've found; $29 right now on sale FWIW; I like it YMMV

Don't forget to keep the connector dry where it attaches to the phone. It's expensive if you don't with a Samsung S5.

I know the OP is in the UK, but; Don't use a charger in the rain?
All my charger stuff is in my tank bag; phone, nook, camera, Inreach, Stinger. I've even got an inverter in there, 120 volts! Not even using the power port for anything right now.

Hmm, inverter in the tank bag? Nice solution, I had not considered that option. Opens up a few more possibilities...

Just curious why you need 120V (220 in Europe) on a bike. I have 12V for everything I carry. I just can't imagine taking anything that needs it while riding.

Oh, I dunno, a small TV? DVD player? Blender? In the rush for Colorado I failed to aquire all the USB cables I needed, so my camera battery dock needed house current for that trip. Inverters get warm, vent the bag a bit.

I used to wrap a discarded rubber/elastic band around the plug and make sure its rolled down tight after plugging in your 'appliance' ...worked a treat for me ::008::

I have the luxury of a permanently fitted pelican case as a top box so I fitted a switched combined 2 and 1 amp USB charger into it so I can charge tablet and phone. I also replaced (straight swap) the cigarette lighter socket on the dash for another usb charger for convenience charging when it doesn't rain. Not used that one much ! ::025::

So far I've ridden in tons of tropical downpour, with my phone charger plugged in, and experienced no issues.

Prolly the side wind deflectors on my 2010 model, somehow managed to neatly shelter the socket from getting fully exposed to the elements.

Not sure about the newer models though but mine has a large drain hole in the socket and water can just drain out.

So issues so far for me. *crossfingers*
