Hey, great forum here folks. Lots of good info and civilized discussion. I'm new to the adv touring genre. Left for a two week excursion on an '06 softail and returned on a new super tenere. Too many places I couldn't go and life is too short. Been years since i've ridden off road so i plan to ease into it.

No doubt I'll own a hog again one day but for now I just want to enjoy the ride.
I should get that put on a t-shirt; my new motto.

Welcome.....I came to the S10 from FLHTC ....I do miss the ergos for mile eating on the hiway but that's the problem...only really good for the hiway.....so we sacrifice the comfort for the ability to go anywhere...and the easier maintenance and the reliability.... :p

Yes. Riding position is taking some getting used to. I logged 1000 k in a day and my knees were done. I was searching for info on mounting highway pegs when I found this site. Haven't found a solution yet. Maybe I just need to get more flexible.
Used to live in terre haute. Can't say I miss the city ( sorry) but the country is beautiful and you must have some awesome riding.

While looooong days in the saddle can still take it out of me, I assure you that the new "posture" that the Tenere requires will get easier as time goes on. Our bodies adjust, to some degree.

Having said that, adjusting the ergo to match your sized n shape, makes as big a difference as it does in your car\truck. After all, we move our seats forward\backward, Steering wheel up\down (in\out on some), and even the pedals adjust on newer vehicles.

So, it only stands to reason you can affect your long term comfort with changes to the equivalent items on a bike.

I've got mine perfect as I can now. And now loooooong runs are much less painful.

Good luck.

big plus for the super ten over my ultra is when i get tired of sitting i dont have to stop to stretch my legs just stand up on the pegs for a little extra breeze and let the circulation back

Welcome to the forum. Check out www.graveltravel.ca when you have some time. Some great off pavement routes there.

I have highway pegs mounted to my crash bars. Not a lot of places to mount them otherwise. You might be able to use an offset peg mount off the forward bolt of the oem tip over guard. Just have to find one that mounts with a thru hole.

Lots of riders here that have, or have had, HDs and other cruisers. No harm, no foul. I've had a few, going back to a '40 Knuck and a Big Dog chopper on the other end. The Super Ten takes you places and that's the common theme. Enjoy where it will take you and explore the road less taken.

Ok one last introductory note. Went for a ride with my Harley buds yesterday and got the expected reaction. Doesn't suit you, think you can keep up, well I guess you can still ride with us, and so on. Then one guy asked to switch for a while and by the end of the ride they had all taken a turn. And that was that. Probably could have traded one guy straight up for his street glide.
Not happening. They'll have to get there own.

Too bad I couldn't invite them on my ride today. Explored the gravel roads and trails south and east of Riding Mountain National Park. We've had a cottage there for 30 years and I'd never been on most of those roads.
I'm hooked.

The ability to go places normally not considered is what makes this bike awesome!

I traded my 09 FLHTCU for my Tenere. No regrets. I had been places on that Harley where the bags would drag cause the ruts were that deep. Never liked Beemers but the Tenere is perfect for me.
