So, I do most of my S10 riding in the sand of NJ's Pine Barrens and the pavement to get there. I have Yamaha's OEM plate because rocks are scarce in my area. However, I am taking a 3-week bucket-list trip to CO, UT and NM this August. I think I might encounter some rocks. Therefore, I am seeking a well used but functional skid plate that mounts to the frame. My bike is a 2013 S10. Thanks!

Bump for a well-used but functional frame mounted skid plate. Come on, guys. Somebody has to have one of these in the corner of your garage.

Is the Altrider plate considered a frame mount?

The rear portion is, the front is on collapsible metal mounting points added to the front of the motor. The plus is it stays clear of that alloy stud weak point on the bottom of the motor that other systems have used as a mounting point in the past. Somebody posted a pic recently of what I think was an AR that took a pretty good whack. No holes, did it's job, but I'm not sure it was good to go for a second round.
RideOnAdv out of Texas, distributed locally on the forum, ACD out of Spain, and Rumbux out of... South Africa? distributed locally here on the forum... are the only true frame mounts that I can come up with. I haven't shopped for a couple years, there may be more. Pretty sure they'll all support the weight of the bike up to a couple gravities. You pay a bit for the security though. I doubt anyone will have one kicking around the garage in usable shape. I have a SW-Motech kicking around that is no longer functional.
