Where in the VIN# can one find your production # and after pulling my hair out, reading etc with yamaha designing such a wonderful machine did they forget a helmet lock or have i not discovered it yet?

The last few digits are the production order, like mine is something like 00035. It also seems California and the rest of the nation have separate numbers. I believe there was another somewhere else with the same number as mine. It's been most of a year since that thread popped up.
LOL, nope, no helmet lock. There are a few posts where folks have made real clean installs of various locks. I like the one that incorporates the lid and box of a panier as the lock. I think they're all in the "What have you done to your Tenere" thread. I leave a bicycle lock coiled around my right passenger peg. I can lock up several helmets through the chin bars, or less securely through the chin strap.

I never found them to be very useful. They keep honest people honest but that's about all.
