This.Foam plugs with a Sena 5s and their upgraded speakers work fine for music. I don't use it for calls or comms.
As a bass player, helmet speakers are pretty unimpressive to begin with. When moving they're even less so. Even without ear plugs. So for me the quality of music is already compromised. I can hear things ok enough with earplugs that I can enjoy it while riding. I find it helps to keep me focused. Something about keeping a part of my brain occupied so I don't distracted.
I've got custom in-ear monitors for performing. I wish they were comfortable when worn inside the helmet. That would be the way to go...
I had a pair of similar plugs made in the same way and the speakers in them are rubbish.I visited the ‘local’ Earmold guy today and got some new earplugs. He makes the type where he injects some sort of silicone into your ear canal and outer ear. It sets and he removes it and then it’s trimmed and coated in a clear coat. I ended up with a pair of custom ear plugs. He also makes them with tiny speakers that you can connect to a Sena or your phone for comms or tunes. I might consider getting some of those when I’ve got more time.
Well, that’s disappointing. Back to singing to myself.I had a pair of similar plugs made in the same way and the speakers in them are rubbish.
Good earbuds with the right tips will give a good seal and sound way better. The ones i use were about £80 but i do like good sound. The thing to watch with earbuds is they need to be small so they dont protrude from your ear. The helmet i use has space for speakers so it does give you more room. I am a bit of an audiophile so more critical than most.Well, that’s disappointing. Back to singing to myself.
