I did about 150 miles today (all paved road dry conditions) and tried switching off the TC and driving in boring Touring Mode. With the TC off the Touring Mode felt more "lively" and my mileage was up a few mpg. Does the bike perform slightly better with the TC off?

yesterday i was riding to work in sport mode with traction at level 2. i felt like a damn hero when i leaned into a corner all nice and whacked that throttle open nicely.

i felt the whole rear start sliding all sweet and drifting just right. i have never done that before and it felt really amazing. after that i am a HUGE fan of traction control. without it i do not know how well i would have held it, but it was nice to feel that sliding rear and understand the feeling in a semi-controled way.

The TC on the S10 is really good. I usually don't turn it off completely on gravel roads. Use 2 which allows a bit of rear wheel break loose in the corners even when you wack it open. Never have to worry about completely loosing it. Makes me look like a pro coming out of corners and sliding sideways just a little under compete control no matter how hard I gas it. Just makes me giggle every time! ::001::

Had a similar thing happen.

Finished riding 100Km of dirt then ended up on the last leg up the road where they had sealed the road for the big uphill section. I relaxed a bit didn't I?

Well the TC caught the bike on the second hair pin, as I gave it a bit much for the obviously "grippy surface" so it was a bit of a heart starter and as usual I don't know whether I would have caught that or not.

But in the dirt as RED CAT says you sort of expect to be loosing grip all over the place and the TC (2) Gives you just enough to have lotsa fun, especially with almost bald stock tires.
