Yeah, I know a total noob question. I want to remove both wheels so I can get the tires changed at the shop. How do you support the bike to be able to do that? The rear wheel is easy when on the center-stand, but what about the front?

I've got front-end stands for my other bikes so its "cake" on those. The ST is too tall for my current front-end stands to use. So short of buying another front-end stand... suggestions?

TIA!

With the bike on the work stand I put a hydraulic jack under the oil pan and lifted the front end until the rear tire was touching the ground. I supported the bike in this position with jack stands and straps. Then I removed the front wheel. With the front wheel gone I removed lowered the supporting stands and loosened the straps a bit and then let out the hydraulic lift ever so slowly until the rear tire was back of the ground a bit. Re-supported the bike, then removed the rear wheel.

Sorry, i didn't remove the jack stands. Just lowered them. The idea being that they would "catch" the front end if I let the hydraulic jack drop too low.

Put bike on center stand remove rear tire, put blocks under final drive leaving about 2in gap.
Put a jack under the skid plate and raise the front far enough to remove the front tire.
The block will keep it from going too far.

Howdy,
I pull the rear first, use a floor jack under the engine to lift the front wheel just off the ground and pull that. To keep things "safe" while the wheels are away I'll take a 1/2" breaker bar, center it on a jack stand between the fork tubes then lower the front end down until the axle cut outs rest on the breaker bar.
Later,
Norm

Thanks for the replies Gents!

I looked to see if my Front stand that uses a pin in the steering stem, would work but its too short, the overall length…Made for sport bikes… oh well, but the above suggestions sounds like what I'll do!

I do something similar to the posts above...I have the AltRider skid plate, so once i remove the rear, the front is a piece of cake. The one thing I do that I didn't see posted: Once I have pulled the front wheel, I put the axle back in, and rest it on a jack stand. I did this with both the Tenere and the FJR, never had an issue.
