Yes, that part is needed for the rear brake caliper. The one from Cheshire Bike Breakers looks OEM. I don't think I'd trust the one with all the holes; that looks like someone altered an OEM torsion bar for some reason.

My bad. I didn't know that part had changed from the one on my 2014. Mine just has the bolt holes at the ends.

You can make your own as well with some flat steel stock if you have the ability to drill three holes and cut it to length. Rounding the ends helps avoid binding. It's easier if you have another to use as a pattern, of course. This part is commonly removed at the front end when doing rear wheel removal so you can get the brake caliper out of the way.

Edit - Without that part in place, the brake caliper will rotate and cause damage to the ABS sensor wire.

Years ago we had a member mount a car tire and he had to change the bar to clear the sidewall. As I remember he had one made that bowed out in the middle.
