First, thanks for giving it visibility on the home page, adding the database, and the media gallery. Also thanks to Troll for keeping the first post so up to date and adding info there.

This rally is really starting to look exciting!

However, the main information thread is now at 71 pages, and growing. In it are mixed simple banter, important messages and requests for info, lots of local info, riders planning routes, and meet ups and rides, gear questions, etc. To me, and perhaps it is just me, it is getting unwieldy.

It also seems we are going to do a rally each year. So some thought about this process is probably worthwhile.

My suggestion is to take a look at BMWSportTouring and look at their annual outing, the UNRally. Although this forum is a bit smaller than BMWST, we are both a lot smaller than ADVRider and I think it's a decent example of an approach that works for a similar group. Each year it gets a new discussion forum and folk can start threads to talk about the various aspects. The organizers typically maintain one thread for official info/announcements and the members do the rest. It works pretty well for them and they typically get about 100 attendees a year.

I don't know how hard it is to set up a new discussion forum on this site, or if there are costs involved. I do know that I am having a really hard time keeping track of all the folk looking to hook up for rides on the way in, the way out, or in the region.

Anyway, just something to think about!

Thanks!

I can create a sub-board under "Events" for any major rally. How does that sound?

Thanks Chris!
No problemo. The easy stuff gets done quickly. It's everything else that I take forever to do. O:)
