After months of posting it was time for us Utards to get out and take a bit of a ride. It all started this morning at my house when Twisties and Twistie Wife came over to check out my Electrics and other accessories. So we take a look at my FZ1 Fuzebox, power outlets, Micatech bags Symtec grips, and W&S troller. I then check out Twisties Yamaha touring screen, luggage, his com setup, and the SW Motech plate. His better half also had a nice new set of Heidenau Scouts on the F650GS.
Once farkled out we decided to go check out the local hole in the ground otherwise known as the Bingham Copper Mine. Up Butterfield Canyon we went. The two lane road soon narrowed into one lane and the gravel from the road-cut covered the road in the corners but it was a fun ride to the top of the pass. The Maples were red, the oaks were green and yellow, and the curves were tight all the way to the top.
From left to right it is Switchback (David), Twisties (Jan), and Twisty Wife (Sharon) at the top of the pass.
Switchback's ride (Blue ones are faster)
We then headed up to the top of the mountain overlooking the mine. The road is negotiable by 2wd cars but the corners are steep and full of rocks and dirt moguls. The XTZ made it to the top without incident. The low end, balance, and traction control all aligned in perfect harmony.
Here I am at the top of the mine.
The Aspen is turning yellow.
Overlooking Tooele.
But where is Twisties and Twisty Wife?
There is Twisties!
Turns out his bike just took a brief nap.
Can you spot the stow-away hanging onto the GIVI crash Bar?
Not too much to see here.
Can you see the stow-away now?
We soon headed back down to find Twisty Wife hanging out at the corner Twisties had the nap, no troubles, just waiting. We finished the day riding into Tooele and heading round the south side of the Ochre Mountains and back home. It was a good day, we were unscathed, the crash bars worked, and we got in a good ride. Nice meeting you guys!
