Hello my wet brethren,
I need some help figuring out suspension stuff. I weight significantly more then the average runt and want to change my springs in the rear of the S10 but in all honesty I have no idea what the set up is. I read something about static sag and various other greek terms.
Looking for someone that knows all this crap and can advise on setup. I can figure out how to install the spring itself. just need info on what else and how to set it up. According to http://racetech.com I need a 23.8 kg/mm spring best they have is a 21.4. I am not interested in a aftermarket shock at this time unless someone knows of a good one for much less then the standard $1200 I always see...I mean ALOT LESS......

Thanks,
James

If you're wanting to keep the stock internals on the rear, but replace the spring, you might look at hypercoil or eibach for the heavier rate spring. It's my understanding you'll need a spacer for the new spring to fit. Jaxon sells those...

See here: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=7151.msg121710#msg121710 for a pictorial and spring size.

What's your common riding weight?

James,
My KLR is getting a race tech G-3 shock now from a guy in Onalaska. Bob is an authorized dealer for race tech.
I'll pass you his info off line. Elsa needs 1" shorter, and that's the best way to get it done (so I'm told)

I made a reservation to have Konflict Motorsports in Redmond do mine front and back for $800. Includes springs, revalving, shim setting. The rear shock is getting spring only to start.

That's a pretty good deal. I looked at their site and looks like you'll be in good hands...you're fortunate to have a shop nearby.

James,

Look up my profile and my topics on just this subject.

I'd post links but I'm on iPhone as I am on the road returning from a weekend of dirt in Death Valley......with my Ohlin's rear and complete custom done front. ALL the info is in my topics on the matter!!!
