Spoke with a Yamaha rep today

While at the dealership today I spent some time with the factory rep. He told me they sold slightly more Tenere's than expected and Yamaha is happy with the sales numbers.

He also said they regularly check the forums to keep track of what's being discussed. He gave a couple of examples of where the forums made a difference. The first was the $200 rebate form. Apparently Yamaha never intended to include our pre-purchase bikes with the rebate. But after seeing the forums and looking at how the coupon was worded they thought it was in their best interest not to press the issue. Second he said they are seeing a lot of interest in the 660. He did not say it's coming to the US, but they are aware of the interest in the bike. Who knows, we may see more XT's in the US market.

There are rumours that the XJR will soon be discontinued altogether because it is becoming increasingly difficult to meet the ridiculous emissions regulations!

It was a great idea that all went down when I was out riding for a couple of weeks last summer. When I finally saw it I was bummed I had missed the window to participate. It was a great thing and it still has Yamaha employees talking about it.
