A 2015 that has been wrecked, popped up on the local classified.

I have really been wanting another set of wheels.

It is missing the gauge cluster, so i dont know how many miles it has. By the looks of the brake rotors and other parts, it looks like it was not used much before it was wrecked. 20240729_190907.jpg20240729_190927.jpg20240729_192145.jpg20240729_190856.jpg

I agree, there doesn't look like it was ridden much. Although that looks like a new set of tires. And what's with the tank in the box?

Curious what it cost you? It would be nice but you need more space than I have.

So are you rebuilding or going for parts? When you said wheels, I was thinking literally wheels. It looks to be repairable. @~TABASCO~ had a set of altrider bars for sale.

I seen it on the Utah classifieds. It was my intention to buy it for a spare set of wheels. They looked to be in pretty good shape.

Then i was going to part out what i didnt want and recoup my money.

The bad:

It was in a pretty good wreck, and has scuffs all over. The plastics, shrouds, radiator, fan, speedo/meter, headlight, windshield, front fender, handgaurds, right footpeg, right passenger footpeg are gone or wrecked. Handlebars are suspected to be bent.

The good:
The bike hasnt seen much use. If I had to guess, less than 6000 miles. Engine looks great. Swingarm, final drive look great. Frame is straight, and it has a title. It has its ecu.

If I can find a bike with the parts i need. I would like to repair it. Its in too good of shape to chop up.

Spent a little time on the old girl today. Swapped in my original battery from my 16 that has been sitting on my bench.

The guy I bought it from tried to get it running and thought it was it had no meter/display. So I swapped my meter on.

It came on and it has some errors. I tried cranking. It cranked just like the guy i bought it from said.

I had gotten most of the 4 year old fuel out of the tank last night. When trying to get the fuel out, something was flopping around. When you turned the key on, no familiar fuel pump sound. You know that sound.

So I needed to change the air filter on my Es and got that done. While I had the tank up I just took it off and hooked it up on the parts bike.

Turned the key...... good ol fuel pump priming sound! Hit the starter..... and she starts right up. Idles wonderfully, gave her a couple of blips of the throttle and she revs great.

Now there is no radiator attached, so i quickly shut her down. Its a good day.

I then proceed to take the fuel pump out of the tank. It had seperated into two pieces (when it was wrecked?). Looked up a new pump from Yamaha from Rocky Mtn, $387.00. Ouch. Pulled the old pump/sender out, and the sender had come unplugged, fished out a plastic ferrule looking thing, an oring, and carefully put it back together.

Plug it in, turn key..... fuel pump noises as should be expected. Install tank, put in fresh fuel, and she FIRES right up.

Ya' know . . . . you could just put a radiator on it and use it as an off-road rig. Wouldn't need and gauge head unit since it's not an ES. Just mount a crazy bright LED unit on the front to see? Already have the bars and skid plate. Those body panels look like you could probably get them back on. Gorilla Glue the broken parts.

I received gv550's radiator in the mail today, and got it mounted up. Waiting on a blower/fan assembly now. It seems that blower is holding up the rest of the order. View attachment 114641View attachment 114642View attachment 114644
You don't realize how big the radiator is until you see it uncovered. My friend in Colorado just had his replaced after his AZ deer strike. We rode several hundred miles with it leaking some but watching the temp. Several years ago another friend punctured the hose but we got it home with a poor patch job.
Three questions:
1) Where is the temp sensor located?
2) What is the built in protection for over heating?
3) Will it pull from the overflow reservoir if the system is leaking?
