I have been looking for a good small light that can also work as a lantern on bike camping trips and uses AA or AAA batteries.
I found three options and I picked the UCO Clarus LED Lantern. It puts out 150 lumens, runs on three AAA batteries and is only $20, the cheapest of the bunch.

Here are all three options I found and links to information on them.

Check out Luci by mpowered at www.mpowered.com. I recently saw some of these when i went camping with a group of friends. These little suckers are pretty cool. Solar powered. Best part is, they are inflatable, so they pack up great. Great for adding light to a table or in yr tent, etc.... good for low level ambient light. Hard to describe them, may not fit your needs but I thought the were very cool. I might get a couple myself.

Nice light, I just went to order one from Amazon.ca and they are $28. $4.27 in the US and $28 in Canada.
I have seen these at Big Lots!!
It's just me but I only use LED in my tent or hiking in the dark (head lamp). As far as in camp for a nice real world glow and not the Alien blue/white hue of LED I use one of these.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/230853914168?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

It fits in the palm of your hand and puts out a large amount of light and sips MSR IsoPro; mine is around three years old and has been used more than I can remember, just recently the Piezo igniter ceramic rod broke I just took it off and use matches to light it.

My friends who use LED's laugh until I light this little sucker up and then everyone says wow! Thats cool; The light is natural and chills you out at the end of a long days ride.. ::003::

Conventional. As a habit I always try to keep away from anything rechargeable for my camping gear and stick to the same type of batteries for cross use, but I'm new to motorcycling camping so I can see why that would be a good idea.
