So I managed to thoroughly scratch up my right side cover against the altrider bars. Too many updates to my PCV before I installed a USB cable that ran under the seat....

Anyway I tried polishing the plastic and didn't have much luck so I looked for some kind of durable paint or coating.

I picked up some stuff called plasti dip in matte black at home depot, and I really like the look. It has a nice rubber feel like a truck bed liner, but is smooth and dried to a flawless finish. Multiple coats are required, but worth the wait.

Now lets see how it holds up ;)

Friend of mine did the grill on his truck using that stuff. Seems pretty good.

Easy to reapply ::012::

What prep process did you use? I was thinking about something like that for the exhaust shield.

Washed it with soap and water then blew it dry with compressed air :)

Side covers look good. ::008::

plasti dip comes in a spray now :question:

I have used it for insulating tools but always purchased it in a can and you dip the tool into it for the covered area you want.

People use Plasti dip for everything. There are entire web sites devoted to it. I've seen people paint their wheels, and even their entire cars with this stuff.
The best part, if you don't like the way it comes out, you can just peel it off.
