This is another candidate helmet. Wondering two things:
1. How is the ventilation on hot summer days? I want a helmet that flows air decently, my Neotec II is disappointing in this regard.
2. How's the sizing. Quite a few comments say it runs small. I normally take a medium, no chance to try it on before buying.

Thanks for any insights.

Venting...it's OK I suppose. The wind protection is so good on these bikes that it pretty much negates the venting effectiveness of most helmets.

Definitely runs small, I typically wear an XL in HJC, had to go with a XXXL for the Scorpion.

I find the visor a bit too short for effective sun blocking.

Also, fog-proof not so much, had to drop a chunk of change for a pin-lock visor.

I do like the helmet for the price point but after 2 seasons I'm looking for something new.

Last summer, I was heavily looking at the AT950. Primarily for 50/50 use on my KLR. I also own a Neotec II (and couldn't agree more about the ventilation!)

I tried the AT950 on in-store only and needed to go one size up to find good comfort during a 20 minute test wearing. I also didn't love the weight.

Ultimately, I went with a non modular ADV helmet. The Klim Krios. The airflow and seriously light weight (!!) was totally worth losing the modular features (imo).

Love the tool-less peak removal function, and that it also included a Pinlock insert as well as a dark visor. If a flip up chin bar isn't critical, then I highly recommend the Klim Krios as an ADV helmet option.

Fwiw, my head shape is long oval. Hope the info helps in some way :)

I have an Uvex Enduro which is an ancestor of the Klim Krios made by the same company. The main thing I don't like about it is the detents for the face shield are very weak and it won't stay cracked open at speed. How's the Krios in this regard?

I don't recall having any issues with the Krios' visor staying cracked open at speed. Then again, I didn't crack the visor open often. The helmet moves air really well! My "test trip" for the helmet took place during the summer last year in TX, NM and AZ.

Also and fwiw, I did not have the Krios' visor fully up at highway speeds on paved roads. I did have it fully up on trail with goggles on. The fastest speeds I can remember while on trail was anywhere between 50-60 mph. The visor stayed solidly in the full open position (bumpy trails and all). Fortunately, the Krios' view port size and raised visor clearance allow for goggles to be quickly donned.

Hope this info helps :)

I have the Scorpion EXO modular for a couple of years, wear it a lot.
The reason I bought the Scorpion EXO is for the feature set. I wanted all the features: Flip-up, peak, and most importantly - internal drop-down shade. I would love to have an Arai XD4 because I think it's one of the best helmets but it doesn't have the internal drop-down shade and I'm spoiled for that feature.

As for fitment, I wear a medium helmet. Cranium circumference is 21-5/8ths inches (54.8cm), medium oval shape. The EXO generally fits well except I find it tight on the cheeks. I don't have pudgy cheeks or a wide jaw. Noise level is acceptable, by comparison, not as quiet as my Shoei Neotec first gen. Ventilation is barely adequate.

I wear glasses and it's much easier putting glasses on and off with a modular helmet, though if the XD4 had the internal shade, I would give up the flip-up.

The chinbar does not lock in the up position. I have a Caberg modular helmet that does lock in the up position and I find that to be a horrible feature as I would never ride with it that way. The locking mechanism on the Caberg works so well that when I accidently lock it, I have to take the helmet off in order to unlock it, hence my sour opinion of that feature.
