Just thought I'd relay a recent experience. It might help someone make a purchasing decision if looking for a jacket. About a year and a half ago, I purchased a Scorpion Commander jacket from NewEnough.com (they have since changed their name to motorcyclegear.com). I absolutely love this jacket!! Last month while riding in Alaska, I tore the main zipper and broke a couple of teeth off the bottom of the zipper as well. Now it wants to come unzipped from the bottom up.

When I got home, I called Scorpion and told them what happened and asked if they had any suggestions. They asked me to email the purchase receipt and they'd get back with me. So I did (after I had motorcyclegear.com email a copy of the receipt to me). The next day they sent me a return authorization number so I could ship the jacket to them. They volunteered to put a new zipper in the jacket and treated like a warranty claim. All it cost me was postage (about $20). I don't have the jacket back yet, but so far I am really impressed with the customer service.

If you're looking for a jacket, I encourage you to check out Scorpion. They make outstanding gear and stand behind their products - even after a year and a half of my abuse. ::008::

+1 on Scorpion gear and helmets. I have the Master jacket and have worn their helmets for a number of years. They make good gear and stand behind it. I had a problem with the shield on my 500 helmet and they did not think twice about replacing it.

Got the jacket back yesterday and the new zipper is flawless. The folks at Scorpion (mainly Richard) were fantastic. Many thanks for getting my favorite jacket back in the rotation. Although I was a little bummed they didn't throw a "Scorpion" sticker in the box. It would have made a nice addition to the beer fridge. ::003::

Customer support sounds great. I've never owned a Scorpion Jacket, so can I bug you to list some of the main reasons why you like the Commander...(other than the support)? I'm always in the market for gear, and it seems that Scorpion has reasonable pricing.

Thanks.

Tenerator12, to be fair, I don't change gear much. If I like what I have, I stick with it. So I am no expert. My Commander jacket was replacing an old Joe Rocket jacket that was a hand-me-down from my cousin. The JR jacket was decent in warm weather, but didn't seal up very well for cooler weather. The first thing I noticed about the Commander jacket was that it was air tight and waterproof. When I put it on and zipped up all the vents, there was NO air getting through. I guess you'd say the "fit and finish" were top notch. It came with 2 liners for varying degrees of warmth. Especially with the liners installed, the wind does not penetrate and I have found it very comfy down to 20-ish degrees on my half hour commute. Perhaps for this reason, the Commander is not the best jacket for triple digits days in TX. The venting is decent, but it's a heavy jacket. I have a mesh jacket I wear in the summer. I look forward to fall/winter/spring riding so I can put it back on.

Scorpion thought through the details. There is a big pocket in the back for a "camel-back" bladder with holes/clips for the hose. There is lots of storage (pockets on top of pockets). The chest pockets are easy to operate with gloved hands. There are straps at the forearms/biceps to get the arms snug. Same for the waist. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but overall I love this jacket. And like you say, they tend to be more reasonable versus some of the budget-busters out there.

When shopping for gear (or just exploring), my first stop is www.motorcyclegear.com. Their closeouts prices are great and I like the reviews, by both staff and customers. I just popped over there and Scorpion has a new Commander II jacket. At least I think it's new cuz there are no reviews posted yet. I wish they had the Commander in hi viz back when I was shopping. If you decide to go this route, I recommend ordering one size larger than normal.

Scorpion's customer service is awesome.

Last year, I had an issue with a leaky EXO-700, and the company sent me to their warehouse in Louisville (local for me, then). The corporate customer person told them to do whatever it took to make it right. The warehouse manager gave me a personal tour of the place, and let me rummage through a dozen boxes of helmets until I found the right one. They definately want happy customers.

Great story. But I have to remind myself that this is what customer service is supposed to be. Isn't is sad that we expect so little out of companies that we are shocked when someone goes a little out of their way to make a customer happy? This should be the norm.
