BMW and other manufacturers have their internal programs that techs and people and can purchase, GS911, for example. Does Yamaha have something similar?

I always used my MotoScan App to cycle the ABS, calibrate the IACS, clear service lights, etc. It would be awesome if you could get something similar for Yamaha!

Yamaha use chalk, an abacus and a rock.
And man, am I glad of that. I'll take stone-axe reliability over "hey look, my TFT sceen is streaming episodes of Justified" any day of the week. Not that I don't love me some "Justified".

I like to think that, after the apocalypse, the only thing left will be giant cockroaches....and one of them will be riding my Super Tenere.

I think that, rather than adding even more software to the Yamaha, I'd be just as happy if all vehicles including motorcycles would just conform to the OBD2 standard so I could buy one scan tool and use it on everything I own.

Thats sort of what I am saying. For BMW, I had an OBDii scan tool that I plugged into the diagnostic plug under the seat. Using the motoscan app, $50, It allowed everything a dealer can do. I would reset service, cycle the ABS pump during flushes, read codes and clear them, etc.

I was hoping Yamaha had something similar so one could cycle the abs without the mod, reset the ES suspension warning code after a battery death, and check general codes.

I think you can do check codes in the dash on a 2017 and before model, but what about those after that? Other than valve adjustments, I prefer to work/service my bike myself.
