Congrats, you just got a brand new bike, I got mine 3 months ago from the dealership and already passed the 5K mark.......I bet you saved thousands.
The Goldwing is my dream too, but I guess it would be in another life!

CalSci seems pretty hit or miss. One bike is great next bike isn't very good. He made a windshield for my 890 Adventure that was ok but the plastic was super thin. I called and he said he could make me another one out of "the standard" thickness but I'd have to pay for the second windshield. Seemed a bit odd.

Took the Altrider crash guards off today, will be posting them for sale in the near future. I just like the bike better without them.

on my 19 where ever I set the stock screen there was buffeting . it was a better stock screen than the stock screen on my 2012 tenere ... its not just dimensions that make a screen it is the shape . and for me as a 6'2" man the air with the cal sci just touches the top of my hemet . my seat is in the tall position . its rain at the moment so cant or want give the height till it quits , but I can see over the screen and I use the stock Yamaha adjusters . I do have the side screens . so when I put this screen on I rode up and down the road till I got it adjusted just right . for me it works .
On my 2020, I could not make stock screen anything but unrideable in any position. Buffeting was brutal.
Cut 3” off , better but still buffeting.
Cut about 3 more “ off. ( same level as gps cross bar).
Perfect clean air, and quiet on helmet. Great for HOT rides.

Normally use Yamaha tall touring screen with little adjustable wind deflector at top. Works well except for heavy cross winds (then ear plugs definetly needed. Buffeting is still okay

WAIT!.....there's no slipper clutch on these things! I forgot that part. First reaction was what a pain in the ass. Second thought was this is ok I need to start riding again, no more lazy shifting. Kind of fun being smooth again.

Kind of funny, I bought the S10 as a for now bike" mostly because I needed good long distance bike. I was thinking GoldWing but there were 2 major drawbacks, my wife doesn't like them (she doesn't ride just her opinion based on looks) and I'm too cheap to spend that kind of money on a bike I'm not passionate about. Maybe because I knew all the S10's warts and weaknesses going in I'm quite happy with the bike. That is a pleasant surprise because to be honest I had some doubts going in. Not only am t I really am enjoying the S10 it is the perfect stablemate to the MT-10SP. Sort of backed into a spot where I'm a happy camper with the bikes I own.

Took a 2700 mile ride out to Meeker CO on the S10. Really 4 days of riding, 2 of the days there I didn't go anywhere. S10 did a good job of it including some spirited riding through the Snowy Range. Found myself moving along pretty good so no complaints about the bike. I don't think the fuel injection system adapted to altitude as well as the 890 did but it was ok. What I did like about the bike is it has just the right amount of wind/weather protection for me. RTs have too much and the 890 was just a bit shy so that's a plus. Sort of breaks your heart that Yamaha never did anything after '14 to update the bike because it's a decent platform.

Back from 2980 mile trip to New England and home via The Soo. The bike is not exciting but that can be a good thing, the fueling is awful but I'm used to it, and its doing a really good job for me. Oddly enough I'm up to averaging 48mpg 70% highway 30% backroads. On the highway I set the cruise to 78mph indicated. Seems better than I remember?

Ah.... yes there is an S10 in my shop. Ah.... yes it's mine. After buying the NC750 this April I decided to sell all my other bikes and buy a GoldWing to go with it. Dirt_Dad and others seemed to confirm what I've been thinking about a 'Wing for some time. So sell I did, took about 30 days for anything to happen then bang in 10 days everything sold, both 890 Adventures and my FJR(mistake) and now I have the money for a 'Wing. One problem spending $18k on a used bike I should be enthusiastic about it not just luke warm. Hem and haw I did and while I did prices started to drop significantly. There are over 1300 '18 and newer GoldWings on Cycle Trader and they're really not selling well. About the time I was on hold for a GoldWing a '19 S10ES with 5k miles on it became available locally. Talked to the owner struck a deal and fetched the bike a week ago. Got a call from the owner on the way there. He forgot to mention there is 2 years of YES warranty left on the bike. So I'm a proud S10 owner again. I have several longer rides planned later this year and while the NC750X is great and does a great job there's no 2 ways about it, after an 800-900 mile day you know you've been on a smaller bike. So while I hem and haw about a GoldWing there is a nice S0 to ride. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Congrats, and great looking bike. Now if you put a lamb or russel day long seat on it, and attach longer universal pegs, and bar risers you will have a bike that is more comfortable and cabable than the gold wing. I came from cruisers for the last 17 years to the S10. With both forward pegs and standard you can move around in a way you just can't with one set of pegs. Add some givi cases and you can carry as much as with the wing

Did you get it flashed? I know lots of opinions on this but I found it made a huge difference on mine. Did give it a little more omph and found the fuel delivery was good in the mountains. And milage actually slightly increased.

I have not gotten it flashed yet. Just living with it or adjusting to it whatever the case may be. Seems to bother me less now. I will probably get it flashed in December. I am willing to listen to all suggestions as to who's flash is best.

Thanks for the offer but I'll let you set your bike up for you and I'll set my bike up for me. Not a fan of RDL, bar risers or highway pegs, but that's just me. If it works for you then I think that's great.

As the altitude increased, so does the mileage. But the power drops. Less available air, less fuel is used. Mountains make me really appreciate fuel injection.
There's lots of air up in the mountains, it's just thinner or less dense with less oxygen per given volume ;)

When you think about a tube, you are welcome to come ride mine. I did the Hulkss tune with Power Vision 3 and have been pretty happy with it over this year. You probably don't recall, but I'm in SC Wisconsin, not too far from Fulton. Feel free to come over if riding a tune would be helpful.

The 890 seemed to suffer less effects at altitude than the S10. I'm sure they both are not at peak power but it wasn't as noticeable on the 890. Matter of fact I hardly noticed it all. I will admit missing some of both lungs I was definitely feeling the effects over 10,000'.
