Anyone going? I am pretty sure I will be there, not riding though as it is not supposed to be very nice weather tomorrow (snow/rain/cold - miserable).

Not me. I'm all geared-out for the time being, plus I need to run my boy around tomorrow to various activities. Thanks for the heads-up though.

Saw Phil's talk last weekend at Bobs BMW and it was worth going. He's advertising Motoquest m/c tours and has a great slide show with lots of tips and suggested roads to try. One of my favorites was about the most dangerous beast in Alaska - a mid-western Dad driving a Winnebago.

So if you are half way to/from Inuvik on the 2 track gravel road and one is coming the other way, what do you do?

The answer wasn't the intuitive one. Rather than pulling over, where you might go down the soft shoulder and get stuck in the growth, just stop in the middle of the 2-track. Once they do as well, you can work around the beast safely.

Did anyone else go to this? How was it?
I ran down, got there too early though. I think I got there around 11a, Phil Freeman wasn't scheduled to be there until 2p and I didn't fell like waiting around for 3 hours. The showroom there is nice but relatively small and there are only so many times I could make the rounds before I got bored.

There were reps there from Arai (who I had a good conservation about the Tenere with - he is looking and the ST is on his short list), Klim, Rev-It, and Olympia. The Klim gear is really sweet but you need a second mortgage to cover the cost, I thought my Rev-It gear was overpriced, the Klim pricing is just silly expensive (as in $1200 for their Adventure Jacket w/o armor!).

Anthony was there, as were a bunch of the on-line ordering guys/gals and their 2 retail sales peeps (Bobby & Kat). I made the rounds and talked to them all, it is nice to put a face to a name when I do order online.

Wound up buying a new pair of Rev-It Dirt gloves and some expensive laundry soap to clean my jackets with but escaped without spending too much this trip. I escaped the neighborhood down there just as all the Flyers tailgaters were showing up so my timing to get out of the sports complex area was perfect.
