Having a bit more time on my hands from work, I managed to get some measurements done and worked out where I could mount the Peli 1120 case under the right hand panier.

It is very sturdy mounted here and there is less risk of damage. The brackets were made with some old pieces of metal that were being thrown away, and fashioned with basic tools such as a dril and a sledge hammer ??? . A few 5mm bolts and nylock nuts hold it all in place.

I like it! If I was to back up four months I would do what you did. The other option has a rear entry though it is not an easy access. The OEM side case comes off easy and gives you easy access. Have you considered installing two cables to hold the door open at 90* and make it a work shelf?

Hi Tim

The lid has a firm stop as shown, but its just over 90 deg. Good idea, I'll have a look at that.

Very nice, do you think the 1150 would fit?

I chose the 1120 because the depth would help it fit between the OEM panniers and the rear caliper. I think the 1150 would be a little too large for this application.

Don't suppose you'd be interested in making/selling the mounting brackets and hardware minus the pelican....? I have some mechanical skills, but not metal fabrication. I have SW-Motech EVO quick release side carriers, can provide measurements. I'm a forum nube, so if intetested let me know how to proceed.

I would love to have that for my 2014ES... hmmm... suppose it would fit there? I don't have the Yamaha bags but I think it could work... I think that the bracket you made would be the same for my bike... If you don't want to make the bracket could you just take it off and take some measurements? Or trace around it on graff paper?

BTW: Great job!

Following this one, I'll never find it again if I don't comment on it!
