After reading the thread about how to remove the wheel and pumpkin, I went ahead and did it and replaced the tire. I had no problems and lubed everything well and put back together. I then started it up and ran it on the center stand and when I put it in 1st gear, it spun nicely but was making a few clacking noises from the pumpkin-driveshaft housing. I have never run the ST on the center stand in gear so I'm not sure if this is a normal sound when it's un-sprung? Everything went back together fine except I had to turn the hub a little to get the shaft splines matched up.

Any thoughts or concerns?

Thanks,

Ken

Normal. Mine does the same.
With no load on the tire, you are going to get some loading and unloading of the entire drive from engine pulses.

Personally, I think the noise is coming from the damper cam on the middle gear set.

Thanks Tubebender! I took it all apart and ran it in gear with out the driveshaft and pumpkin and it made a bunch of noise, then I put on the shaft and pumpkin and ran it and it made the clicky clack and I do believe when it's at that angle unloaded it's jumping around a bit. Checked the cush hub and all was well there and put it back together and it sounds the same but I'm not concerned now.

Thanks guys!
