Hi Members,

Just received in a shock for re-springing and revalve so I thought I would take a image of the internals of the OEM shock so those that don't know what is inside the OEM shock could take a peek. This shock reminds me of the Banshee shock in that it has an extra circlip between the seal head and piston. I also have the new nitrogen bolt already installed so you can see where it is placed.

Also what I found strange is that both the rebound and compression make use of ring (hoop) shims to offer more damping at lo shaft velocities. Strange for the purpose of this bike but that is what Yamaha decided on. On another note this shock uses the exact same piston that the R6 uses so it is not a bad flowing piston.

Anyway I will shut up and here is the image.

So this would contradict the earlier information I received that the OEM shock was not rebuildable?
Yep I would say so, The majority that say this shock is not rebuildable is due to the fact that from the factory there is no location to de-pressurize or pressurize the shock. Once that port is installed then from that point forward the shock will be easily rebuildable or revalved. Just a matter of finding a shop that will install the nitrogen port.
