One day short of 13 months since I picked it up. This is the best bike I have ever owned, and I have enjoyed every minute on it.

Damn, 3,846 miles a month. I take it you have a long ride to work everyday? Or are you a world traveler?

Congrats!!! Yamaha should support you for anything needed on maintenance as a goodwill thing!!!! I have had company vehicles to drive to work going back since 1994 and only on occasion could ride bike to work. Have known several guys over the years who have racked up some serious miles simply commuting.

Congrats!! .any issues during that time? Or just gas, oil, brakes and tires...? I think this bike will go down in history as having legendary reliability ::001:: Loving mine more and more everyday
The bike has been extremely reliable. I have had a couple things taken care of under warranty:

14,935 miles - fuel tank o-ring recall
16,847 miles - lost a rear spoke; all needed slight tensioning again, and have been fine since
20,069 miles - right headlight connector melted and was replaced
- rear differential seal was weeping and replaced
43,110 miles - replaced rear differential seal (weeping again) and breather

Rear brake pads seem to last me about 20k. I made a point of not touching the rear brake at all for the second set of pads, and got 23k out of those. Still on the original front pads with a good bit left.

I had a very weird problem a couple weeks ago; while returning from a day trip to Maine, the headlights went out. It was fairly late in the evening, so after checking fuses and bulbs with no luck, I got a hotel. The next morning I checked everything again, swapped the headlight fuse again, all with no luck. Went to the Yamaha dealer in Hartford, CT did the same thing again, and have had headlights since. No idea what the problem was - I have put the original fuse back in, and all is working fine.

That is fantastic - I hope you're not sitting in one spot and running the odometer up. lol. :)) :)) ::001:: ::26:: ::003::
Sadly, I'm less than a quarter of your mileage in 13 months at only 12K. That's really amazing.
I am sitting in more or less one spot running up the odometer... the saddle. :D

Jo you have a job? A wife?

I am married to the most tolerant woman in the world and I am at a paltry 19k.
I work full time and have joint physical custody of identical twin girls who just turned four. I do not have a tolerant wife though... I have a somewhat intolerant nearly ex-wife (2 months to go) - and we were separated well before the Tenere showed up. ;D I'd much rather have an intact family and a happy marriage than all these miles. :(

That's pathetic Chris - you realize Nick Sanders only took 2 months to run up the same mileage? :)
I do - and with an essentially stock bike too! I hope to make it to Wales and meet him sometime in the next year or two. Anyone who can do that kind of riding, document the trip with pictures and movies and take enough notes to write a book about it, all while navigating the roads and crazy rules of all the countries he's blowing through is amazing.

50,000 miles ??? Holy crap, outstanding job and a whole lot of riding. Hope you have a great seat on that thing.
I still have the stock seat in the high position. I tried a Russell last weekend, and it didn't work out. I'm starting to think about a Corbin, but the farkle fund re-fills very slowly.

I have a 110 mile round trip commute, and ride to work every day all year. I wish I had the time to be a world traveler! Have made it to all the states east of the Mississippi since January, and a few to the west, but that's all. Because of weekend time commitments, most of my trips tend to be long day trips. Every now and then I ride the bike for a work trip - Chicago, NYC, etc.

Chris ,
Have your valves stayed in spec for 50000 miles ?
Valves were perfectly in spec at 27,538 miles. I will have them checked again at ~52k.
