Over the weekend I fitted Oxford heated grips to my S10. What a game changer. Simple, top quality and super easy to use - just like the Super Tenere. It's a luxury I've never had in my 20 years of traffic policing and trips on my my own bikes. Makes negotiating the current Cape Town storms a breeze. I can highly recommend it. In this morning's storm the 50% setting was almost too much! Now how about those heated footpegs, Oxford?

I need to change my heated grips. The current ones are worn out. I’ve been looking at the Oxford ones but I like the idea of using the OEM plug in ones. But looking at the parts catalogue I’m not clear how much they are. It seems to suggest they are £250 for each side, which is too expensive. Also, how effective are they and how easy is it to install and operate them?

If you have a Gen2, you can use the oxfords with the control from the dash…..in that case you don't have to buy the complete oxford kit (grip warmer and control)….you just need to buy a spare oxford grip

I like the Oxford grips due to the somewhat larger circumference and texture. I honestly can't recall what the OEM S10 grips were like, but they were a vast improvement on my WR250R. My feeling is that they improved the circumference on the S10, too.

And I don't have large hands or anything. It's just a general improvement in feel, I've found.

I didn’t know that. Does the plug and play system recognise the Oxford grips and activate from the menu? Also, do the Oxford grips plug straight into the Loom?
Thanks

IIRC, this is on a thread somewhere on this site, I believe they do plug into the stock harness and they appear on the LCD screen too. I think you may have to buy the correct plug from eBay.

Oxford grips do not plug&play with the Yamaha system. The connectors aren't compatible and the resistance is different enough that the display won't recognize them. There have been solutions that involve replacing or eliminating the connectors and wiring work-around adding a resistor, but really why would you? The Oxford controller has 5 heat settings compared to Yamaha 3 and you don't have to take you eyes off the road to scroll through a menu. I've had both and very much prefer the Oxford controller.

Oxford grips do work and display on the dash, you can still customise the 3 heat settings in the deeper menu on the bike. They do not however plug and play but it’s not difficult to sort what is needed. I contributed to a thread on here sometime ago explaining what was involved and I’ll see if I can find it, but search should also throw it up.

I have just installed a relay switched from the spot lights so the Oxford controller works only when the bike is on, Might save a flat battery if you leave them on, if connected straight from the battery.

The Oxford's I've had for a few years now are "smart" in that they can be hooked up directly to a power source (un switched, that is) and they will turn off, if left on for a couple of minutes, with the bike not running.

here yyou can watch how it is done to use the dash controls for the super tenere. It works with other heated grips as well. I don have the oxfords and it works great. The video is in spanish but I think you will get the idea.
