Spool on a K&N...from there on, use a socket wrench to remove and tighten thereafter.

I use this filter wrench. It has a spring that allows the clamps to expand out. Have used this for many years with no problems.

Also have this strap wrench for a backup and maybe travel if the trip was for more than 4,000 miles.

I install the new filter by hand with a light coat of oil on the seal.

Use a torque wrench when installing the drain plugs.

Do you need new copper washers for each oil change... No. On my 2012 with 52,200 miles I did not change the copper washers. On my 2015 with 7.662 miles and four oil changes I have not replaced the copper washers.

Tomato City, I'm shocked you don't replace your crush washers with each oil change! I've re-used them too, but plan to replace them after closer inspection of the used ones. They all had notable pitting and deformation leading me to be concerned about their integrity.

There's a torque spec for the oil filter too. 17Nm.

I have spare OEM washers and I will use them when the almost original washers no longer do there job. "If it ain't broke... don't fix it" I don't recommend to not replace the washers though it is something I choose not to do. Now that we have over discussed this... I am sure the washer will leak when I change oil this week

I have read the torque spec but don't want to use the metal tool to tighten the oil filter...metal on metal. Plus the oil filter bottoms out on the threads when I tighten it by hand. Don't see a reason to tighten it more.

Hmmm... You changed your oil four times in 7,662 miles??? That seems like a LOT.
