OffTheROad.de ECU Reflash UK Group Buy...

Hi folks,

If there are any UK riders who are seriously interested in getting a reflash done, I will try to get a deal done with OffTheRoad. This will be for 5 ECUs in total including mine and not an ongoing group buy, and will be for people in the UK who can get their ECU to me so they get sent off together. So all I need are 4 people who will not mess me around and definitely want to go ahead and I will see what I can do. It will not be for a couple of weeks as I do not even have my bike yet!

If this does not come off, I don't want a mob at my door ok? I am just exploring the opportunities. Perhaps this seems odd, but what I do not want to do is to undermine OffTheRoad and their longer term pricing or upset people who may have paid a different amount, so I do not intend to talk money on here. Please drop me a PM and we can take it from there.

Hi Monty. I have read the 85 or so posts in the other Arena and not totally sure what a diffence this remap makes. I find the bike yes sluggish but fine. Then I have come from a BMW K 1300. I ride with guys who have GS s and the S 10 does alrl right.Have you any response re coming from a GS? I know you get yours soon so you obviously had agood run on demo?

Its something i would be interested in but not straight away, my dealer says you would definately void the warranty if you mess with the ECU so wouldnt it be wise to wait a while?

Hi,

As far as I can see, it would only void the warranty if Yamaha knew about it and also if the warranty issue had something to do with the reflash itself. I would be happy to take them to court if they refused, for example, to replace a corroded wheel because I had a reflash. ::008::

I cannot wait 2 years to unleash this power!

The manufacturer has to be able to prove your mods caused the failure your trying to claim for, so if your bike corrodes or a wheel bearing fails the ECU reflash is unlikely to prevent a claim.

Most dealers would have no idea about your ECU remap, unless Yamaha have the info (like with Diapson) and I doubt many of the others do share this with Yamaha so the best bet is to not go bragging to your dealer about all your mods. Not forgetting of course they get paid to do warranty work and most of them want your ongoing business so trying to stitch you up is not on most dealers agenda's.

I suspect if your engine melts Yamaha may want to know why and look into it deeper, which is where you are more likely to have problems, but it would not worry me at all, I would rather have decent performance from day one than ride around with a flat motor for 2 years just in case I have any warranty woes.
