Today I took my S10 for a little ride, first i stopped at my friend's house up the street, left the key in the ignition and the lights on, and drained the battery. When I came out of his garage I tried to start the bike; it wouldn't start. I tried to push start it down the hill, skid the back wheel, and it did't start; just rolled it down tinto my garage. I decided to wash it before recharging the battery, and I plugged the mufler so water wouldn't go into it. After I charged the battery, it still wouldn't start so I called my dealership, who called Yamaha Canada. I was told that the code/error42 that I was seeing on my dash was an indicator of a short in the ECU, and that this could have been damaged by my having added lights, and GPS etc., and to bring the bike in for inspection. Luckily, I didn't have to do this because my buddy came over and noticed the plug in the muffler. Took it out and the bike started working. :
I have tried to disconnect the ABS before on the centre stand, and if I shut off the bike, i gives me a code/error 69. This time it gave me a 42. My buddy went on the internet and found out that 42 is the rear wheel sensor, so this must of happened when I skid the wheel trying to push start it. So guys if you get a code/error 42 don't worry; you don't have a fried ECU yet. Also don't leave your keys in the ignition on, turn it off.
