Is it an abomination to have NFL played outside of the US or is it the way forward to expand the game ? I'm just settling down to watch the Cowboys take on the Jag's at Wembley and it got me thinking. As a US football fan I think it's great and there is a LOT of talk about a franchise being based here in the UK in 2017. What do you folks Stateside think ?

P.S. I used to play US football years ago for the Newcastle Browns, we were pants sadly...

If I recall correctly the NFL has played games in Tokyo. The NFL is always looking at ways to expand, just good business.

It's fun to see folks in other countries getting into football. I know a lot of the folks in the stands in London were US ExPats but that's a darn big stadium. They couldn't all have been Americans.

Yeah, it's good to see all the games selling out. I think if any franchise decides to set up in London they will be very well supported and we do like a bit of merchandise in the UK so it would be lucrative. My local airport (Newcastle) is flying direct to New York next year so I may have to check out the East coast and take in a game or two ::008::

As a Canadian, I am first and foremost a hockey fan (go Red Wings!,) but I like U.S. football, and actually prefer it to our 3 down, Canadian version. There has been talk of expanding the NFL into Toronto over the years, but as long as there is an NFL team in Buffalo, which is so geographically close, I don't think it will happen.

The NFL will do just about anything to make more money, if folks outside the US embrace it great if not no biggy.....I think its going to be hard on the teams to travel back and forth to Europe. FIFA has been trying to bring Soccer aka "football" to the US and it just hasn't taken. Sorry I'm one of those that just doesn't see the excitement of that game but to each their own...

Now I'd like to see more Rally Car Racing and better coverage of the Dakar Rally in the US.....alas I feel its not to be so....

I have to say that even the East coast sides will have a bit of a slog at 6 hours on a plane, West coast is worse with 10 1/2 to look forward to. I was in tatters with jet lag last year after flying back from San Fran' to Heathrow, and certainly in no state to play US football (although I'm in no shape to play it normally these days to be fair...). I do like Checkswrecks idea of the Redcoats - 'London Redcoats', could catch on.

Bruce...that's a shame because Toronto is a much larger metro area than Buffalo and a good case could be made to move the Bills franchise into a ready made market.
