Hello everybody, my name's Richard and I'm A proud owner of A 2014 ES, and I must say it's everything I hoped it would be. (All but the seat)
My previous ride was A 2009 V-strom 650abs that I bought new in 2009 and put 26,500 miles on, but I just wanted something more long distance capable without the high RPMs.( 6,500 RPMs at 75 MPH) That kind of RPM probably isn't much considering it redlines at 10,500 but 6,500 RPM for two hours wears me out. At 300 miles I would be ready to get off the bike and walk home, which I thought wasn't to bad considering the stock seat was around 100 miles, and that's better than my 2001 KLR stock seat, it was good for 50 miles.
I was torn between the new V-strom 1000abs or the S10, for a month I read everything I possibly could, watched youtube videos, joined web sites, went to the dealer to sit on and drool over both, but couldn't decide which bike to get, then one day I was at the dealer and they asked if I wanted to test ride them both to help me decide,( guess they got tired of washing the drool off )
Well here I am now with 1,300 miles so far, with my longest ride to date being 420 miles, still grinning from ear to ear.
