I just bought a new 2013 Super Tenere in Grey. I was shopping for a 14 ES, but there were none available. One dealer I called said he could get one, but found he couldn't. I finally found a non ES model and was trying to buy it when they told me that the Super Tenere Adventure package (this offer was clearly advertised on the 2014 Super Tenere page on Yamaha's website) was not offered on 2014s. Bait and Switch as clear as night and day. The people at Yamaha were very rude...but they did change their website the very next day. (BUt not before I got a screen save! (Any good lawyers in the group?))
So, when the dealer that had told me he could not get a 14 after all, called me back and asked if there was any way he could sell me the 2013 he had in stock, I told him a price I had seen a new 2012 advertised on Craigslist for, and that if he could sell a 13 for that, he had a deal.
So, now I have a '13 without cruise control for about $3000 less that I would have had to pay for a 14 non ES, with cruise control.
Bait and Switch. What can I say. I love my new Tenere.
Previously, I had a 2005 Vstrom all farkled up and a 2011 DRZ400s set up exactly like I wanted it. One day, my wife pointed out that I almost never rode the white one (DRZ400s). Why don't I sell it? I told her that if I sold it, I wouldn't have two motorcycles any more. She countered, if you sell them both, you can buy a much nicer one.
So, here we are.
